KATHERINE (KAY) HARMAN
While her laughter, hugs, charm, and humour will be with us forever, Kay is now reunited with her beloved Nick.
Fiercely independent and full of poise and wit - Kay grew up in rural Manitoba (when horsepower literally meant...horse power). When she moved to Winnipeg, she met and fell in love with Nick. After they got married and built their home in Rivercrest, her priority became raising their four wonderful children whom she adored. Though they were a handful, it didn't stop her from living an active life with family, friends, gardening, baseball, curling and eventually post-retirement legion dances, travels, and golf.
Along the way, Kay became Baba Kay - a title she wore proudly. Her two perfect (never-a-handful) grandchildren thought the absolute world of her - and she took every chance she could to spoil and love them in return. The stories, laughs, and time she shared with them over the years will be treasured forever.
At 93, she still lived independently in her home - making cheesecake for special family dinners, and adorning her yard each spring with the brightest, prettiest flowers she could find. Despite her many hilarious attempts to stop them, the bunnies are no doubt going to miss the delicious buffets she grew.
Mom was a very special and amazing person and will remain forever in the hearts of her kids: Diane Kaiser (Eric), Shirley Olson (Darrell), Ken Harman (Alison), and Janet Davis; as well as her grandchildren: Amber and Clayton Olson, and her brother Harry Panaschuk (Heather).
Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at CancerCare Manitoba and Riverview Health Centre for all their help and care.
As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Mom's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing and can still hear her boisterous laugh. I'm sure you have so many found memories of her as I do growing up in Rivercrest. Take Care. Laurie Tataryn - Posted by: Laurie Tataryn (Family friend) on: Mar 17, 2023
Ken, Shirley, Diane and Janet, We are so very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. Being neighbors with Kay for almost 15 years, we had many opportunities to chat, share some summer veggies, enjoy her garden flowers, and while Nick was still living, have many laughs over jokes he would share. Sheldon and I are thinking of all of you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Sharon Turner and Sheldon Husband (Neighbor ) on: Mar 16, 2023

So sorry to hear about auntie Kay. Always had fond memories of our times together. I’m sure she is happy to be back with uncle Nick. Our thoughts are with you all. - Posted by: John and Ann Borozny (Aunt ) on: Mar 15, 2023
So sorry for your loss. I only met her a couple of times but I will never forget her! Hugs! - Posted by: Pam Davis (Friend ) on: Mar 15, 2023
Mrs. Harman was a wonderful person, and her sense of humour was contagious! Her huge garden was always her pride and joy. I will never forget how she tolerated our sneaky little dog Dandy, who would go and raid carrots from her garden, but not damaging anything, just gently pulling the carrot out, and eating it there beside the garden, leaving nothing but the tops as evidence! Her cinnamon buns were the best, and their home always smelled of something delicious cooking! I hadn't seen her in a few years, but her photo shows her as beautiful as I remember her from years ago. To her family, you will always have your precious memories of your Mom to hold in your hearts forever. She lived a good life and is now reunited with your Dad. - Posted by: Ruth (Watt) Prokesch (Next door neighbour in Rivercrest, and still friends with her kids.) on: Mar 15, 2023
Such a beautiful woman, she will be missed greatly. Clayton and my thoughts are with the whole family. - Posted by: Lisa Malbranck (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2023
Mrs. Harman, as I called her, was a part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. She was witty, happy and very creative. It was a pleasure to be in her presence, especially when she made pickled anything (but especially pickled carrots!). I was lucky to encounter her again during our mutual time spent at CancerCare this last fall. Even then, her first instinct was to crack a joke that had her, Shirley and I laughing. Rest well. You are and were loved and oh-so missed. My sincerest condolences to Shirley, Diane, Janet and Ken. Love, Ness. - Posted by: Vanessa Olson (Sister-in-Law to Shirley Harman Olson) on: Mar 15, 2023
So sorry to hear of the passing of such a beautiful lady. I was introduced to Nick and Kay many years ago through my dad and mom John and Anne Wachniak. A fun time was always had with them at Branch 141 Legion and different functions. Deepest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Wachniak Family (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2023
In your time of sorrow, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family. Your mother was very kind. A witty beautiful lady, vibrant conversationlist with an addictive personality. We will always remember the family gatherings which involved great conservation accompanied by awesome cooking, laughing and a little bit of Di Bosha. A presence that will be missed but never be forgotten by any of us who knew her. All our love. - Posted by: Doug Smoley (Nephew ) on: Mar 15, 2023
