VIRGINIA OMORI
Virginia Tamiko Omori passed away peacefully on March 6, 2023.
Virginia was born in Winnipeg in 1945. She holds a B SW degree and worked with various people as a support and advocate for fair treatment. Of her many accomplishments, she said she was most proud of helping raise her three younger siblings.
With great fondness and respect, she will be remembered for her sense of humour, compassion, intellect, tenacity, and generosity. Virginia loved music, concerts and Ballet in the Park. She loved to read, watch movies, win at Bingo and at Pull-tabs. Virginia was curious about all cultures, but especially our Japanese culture. She toured Japan, and visited and worked in various Canadian locales.
As a sister and aunty, she was the best! She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Linda; nephew, Christopher (Nicole); sister, Jane; niece, Aimee; and grand-nephews, Luca and Cayde. Virginia was predeceased by our parents, Charles and Mary; youngest brother, Harry; and niece, Christianne.
Previous to Social work, Virginia was interested in nursing. It was at nursing school where she met her lifelong friends Viola, Trudy, Doreen and Lily. Through the many intervening years, right to the end, they have been steadfast supports for one along life's bumpy road, never failing to mark the passing years with their birthday celebrations.
We would like to extend a special note of gratitude to Kiwanis Metropolitan Residence for all their welcoming and warm support. We recognize the many health care professionals at various hospitals, community services, and clinics who helped Virginia. We appreciate the care given by Poseidon Care Home to Virginia during her final days. A final note of appreciation to Jim Omori and family for their kind and loving care.
Virginia will be interred in the Spring. Service details will be available after May 1, 2023.

"Veej" and I spent many years travelling to and from Folk Fest when she volunteered there and I cherish those times, as we would also meet up after our respective shifts were done for an evening concert... - Posted by: Cheryl Panisiak (Friend) on: Mar 20, 2023
