NOELLA PETIT
April 17, 1943 - March 11, 2023
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Noëlla Petit (née Beauchemin) on March 11, 2023, at the age of 79, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour her by sharing her stories and cherishing every memory made.
Noëlla is survived by the love of her life of 60 years, Gilbert Petit; and her five beautiful children, Jacqueline (Kenny), Bernie (Tammy), Nicole (Louis), Noël (Angie), and Lynette. She was a loving grandmother to Robert (Katelynn), Danica (Justin), Mario (Brooklyn), Gabrielle (Spencer), Savannah, Kailey (Liam), Justin, Rémie, Annabelle, Cayden, and a great-grandmother to Brooklynn, Haytham, Blake, and Hunter. Also left to mourn her are her two sisters and brother.
Noëlla was devoted to her family, her faith in God and living life to the fullest. Noëlla and Gilbert always took pride in a hard work ethic to provide their children with the best life. As many challenges as they encountered, their determination and drive made it possible to successfully open Centennial Gravel & Excavating Ltd. in 1974. Almost 50 years later, that legacy continues.
Noëlla was well known in her community for her Bannock, her sucre à la crème and for always having the best holiday decor. Her love for music and gardening is something her family will always cherish and pass on to future generations. She loved spending time in the kitchen and creating delicious meals for all who walked through her door. She never let you leave hungry, she made everyone feel at home.
Mom was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. Her infectious smile lit up every room she entered. She was the best wife, mother, mémère, sister, aunt and friend. We will miss her every day. But may there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten.
We find peace in her passing by remembering this beautiful poem she read to us:
"When tomorrow starts without me,
please try and understand
that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.
The angel said my place was ready,
in Heaven far above,
and that I'd have to leave behind
all those I dearly love.
But when I walked through Heavens gates,
I felt so much at home,
for God looked down, smiled at me,
and told me welcome home.
So when tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me,
I'm right there in your heart."
"We love you mom/mémère, you are forever in our hearts. Until we meet again."
"À bientôt ma belle Noëlla,"
Love Gilly
The family wishes to send a special thank you to all the staff at CancerCare and Ste. Anne's Hospital for their care and compassion; as well as a heartwarming thank you to Gloria, her "adopted sister", for all her ongoing support and frequent phone calls. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Wildlife Haven.
A private family service will be held at a later date as per Noëlla's wishes.
Family and friends may sign a
