ALLAN DOUGLAS GRANGER

Allan Douglas Granger of Nesbitt, MB, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the age of 78 years, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre with family by his side.
Allan leaves to mourn his loving wife Conny (nee Schneider); daughter Andrea (Scott) Stearn and grandchildren Emily and Ethan of Alexander MB; son Troy (Lindsay Hargreaves) of Brandon MB; brother Bill (Sharon) Granger and nephews Jason of Winnipeg MB and Bryce; sister Beth Granger (Ed Zreim); brother-in-law Doug Schneider of Alexander MB, as well as numerous extended relatives and friends.
Allan was predeceased by his father Paul Granger and mother Myrtle (nee Brown) and by a sister Mary Lou Granger.
Allan was born in Brandon and raised on the family farm in the Delton district, attending Delton school. Farming was his passion, from raising 4H calves as a boy to grain farming until his retirement in 2009. In 1979 he married Conny, and they settled on his farm in the Nesbitt area. Allan was overjoyed by the birth of a daughter, Andrea, in 1980. When a son, Troy, followed in 1982 his family was complete. He was so proud and pleased when the grandchildren, Emily and Ethan, came along.
Farm life was busy, and so was the winter curling schedule. There was still plenty of time spent with friends and family, visiting and playing cards, winter snowmobile fun and summer fishing and boating. Fall brought hunting season for geese and deer. As the children grew, the old Edson trailer found its way to summer camping sites and many happy memories were made.
Allan's second lifelong interest was curling. In 1982 Allan achieved the great honour of curling in the Brier with his rink of Mel Logan, Doug Armour and Lloyd Lang. It was the highlight of his curling career, and he was proud to add that tankard to his overflowing trophy shelf.
Allan was a happy man. He accepted life as it came, rarely complaining and rarely having anything negative to say about others. It was a pleasure to be around him, and his distinctive laugh was heard often by everyone who knew him. He will be sadly missed by all of us.
The family would like to extend our thanks to Dr. P. Hechler for his care and compassion, and special efforts in helping Allan.
A celebration of Allan's life was held on March 20 at the Wawanesa Centennial Hall, and a private interment service took place at Minnewawa cemetery. Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st St., Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8 or to a charity of your choice.
