AUGUST DAVID RENTS
August 6, 1948 - March 15, 2023
With sadness we announce the passing of August David Rents born August 6, 1948 - died March 15, 2023.
David is survived by his loving wife Grace of 34 years, his son Kristian (Adam), his stepsons, Lennon (Kyra) and Dustin; his siblings, Gloria, Alice, Roger, Angel, and Ramona (James) and all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
David attended Gordon Bell High School and worked as a meat cutter at Safeway for 25 years and stayed in touch with his co-worker and good friend Doug. He enjoyed working at Birchwood Honda as a shuttle driver and working odd jobs of snow shovelling and grass cutting. He loved riding his motorcycles and attending the drag races all over the States with his close friend Bob, especially trips to Indianapolis.
He enjoyed hanging out at donut shops with his fellow biker friends and going for rides. He enjoyed showing off his vintage vehicles at local car shows and cruise nites. He participated in the Ride for Dad every year. He put many miles on many bikes. He loved to run and participated in the Manitoba Marathon every year that he could.
He loved spending summers at the lake, going for long walks and spending endless hours at the beach. If anything broke down, he made sure it was fixed. He enjoyed sitting around the campfire with friends and his favourite drink, beer with a marshmallow. Dave loved to dance, and many will remember his moves and energy on the dance floor. He loved going out for breakfast and treating his family and friends. Dave enjoyed five pin bowling for many years at Billy Mosienko Lanes with his friends and family. David was a true, Blue Bomber fan and longtime season ticket holder.
He attended many tailgate parties with his 1949 Chevy custom "Bomber Truck". He truly lived his life to the fullest.
Till we meet again. You will be missed .
Cremation will take place with a private burial and Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers kindly donate to the Heart & Stoke Foundation.

Its upsetting that Dave passed away so soon. In the last few years Dave has had a major impact on my life, becoming like a grandfather to me. Life will be so different without him. Among many talents, Dave's PhD in pranks would always get a kick out of anyone in the room. Dave had a way of bringing everyone together with his sense of humour. Dave was the jolliest man around, always smiling and laughing, he was bigger than this world. There is a saying that "bright candles burn out fast" and unfortunately, Dave's candle burnt out too quickly. During summer 2022, Dave, Kristian and I enjoyed an awesome trip to Regina to see the Bombers play in the Labour Day Classic. This is a memory that I will take with me forever. Dave, I hope you are in a happy place, laughing, pulling pranks, and cheering on your favourite football team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Thanks for everything you have done for me and my family. - Posted by: Ethan and Maureen De Brincat (Friend) on: Apr 01, 2023

I really enjoyed seeing August aka Elvis, at Tim’s the last few years during riding season. Always a smile on his face that you couldn’t help but smile back at. Besides motorcycles August and I shared our love for running in which he ran the inaugural Manitoba Marathon back in 1979, what an event that must’ve been! Keep putting those miles on August, by wheel or by foot. You will be sorely missed. Ken - Posted by: Ken MacLeod (Friend) on: Mar 29, 2023

Kristian, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. Reading about him I can see where your wonderful, unique personality and sense of humour came from. My condolences to your whole family. - Posted by: Helen Coish (Past teacher of Dave’s son, Kristian) on: Mar 26, 2023

Very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I had the pleasure of joining him and big Bob on a trip to Indianapolis back in the early 80's. The adventure began the first night we stopped and the "rookies"... my bed was filled with shaving cream!!! Was one of the best trips with so many great memories that I will always cherish. I hadn't seen him in many years as I worked out of town but had the pleasure of having coffee at the Tims on Main last year... we shared a few laughs!! RIP friend - Posted by: Jeff Heiland (Friend ) on: Mar 25, 2023

Everyday we came to work, some new fun trick was done on the butchers, from freezing water in your hard hat to many things we won't mention. But we all knew it was Mr. Rents! Keep laughing and smiling buddy. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Louise Machinski (Safeway coworker ) on: Mar 25, 2023
