CORNELIA ANGLES REIMERS
(ESPIRITU)
We are saddened to announce that Cornelia (Nelia) passed away at her residence in Charleswood after a 30-year courageous battle with Parkinson disease at the age of 81.
Nelia was born in Manila, Philippines and came to Canada in 1968 to assist her aunt Dr. Oldrich in Montreal. She moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her brother Ramon in 1972. She was known as a brilliant and trusted businesswoman. She was a meticulous organizer, and she was respected by her many employees. Nelia used her skills and talents working alongside her husband Jörn building a successful catering company throughout Winnipeg in the 1980s - 1990s.
Family time was important to Nelia, many holiday trips to Manila, Paris and Hamburg and regular outings with her large family gatherings and trips to the Lakehouse gave her much joy. Her daughter Sarah was born in 1981 and Marielle joined the family from the Philippines in 1986. Nelia was especially proud of her daughter Sarah and all her activities, accomplishments, career and watching her start her own family with Jason (Waite). Seeing her grandchildren, Daniel and Taylor on regular visits brought big smiles to her face while battling this horrible Parkinson disease.
Cornelia is survived by her husband Jörn, of 43 years, daughters, Sarah (Jason Waite), Marielle (Carino), grandchildren, Daniel and Taylor, brothers, Ramon (Delia, Diane, Ryan), Bhong (Thessi) and sisters, Linda and Sonia (Tapalas) and many wonderful relatives in Canada, Germany, Philippines, and USA.
Special thanks (Salamat Po) to our long-time home care team, Mila, Maureen and Mary Ann and her beloved St. Charles Church Team Monina and Bertha.
Cremation has been taken place, there will be a church service at our family's St. Charles Parish, 320 St. Charles St., Winnipeg followed by an interment beside our church on Tuesday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m.
