ROBERT RUDYK
May 13, 1964 – March 26, 2023
The family of Robert Rudyk sadly announce his sudden passing at his home on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
Left to mourn his loss is his wife of 32 years, Shelley Rudyk; daughter Breanne Rudyk (Eric); parents, Don and Vicky Rudyk; mother-in-law Sally Latta; and sister Cathy Laaly (Ray). He was predeceased by his father-in-law Ted Latta; and his brother-in-law Barry Latta.
Rob loved his work as a semi-truck driver, then as a driving and safety instructor with Bison Transport. Rob loved "big trucks" right from his childhood, as well as planes and dreaming of being a pilot. He was very hardworking and was well liked and respected by fellow colleagues and students.
Rob loved and lived big. He enjoyed travelling with a special love for Disney World and taking the motor home to Bird's Hill Park to soak up the sun and nature; as well as taking his boat out for fishing. He loved animals and was the family favourite of their cats, Pixie and Jasmine. He loved listening to rock and roll music and playing his acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. He passed on his love of music and guitar to his daughter, Breanne. His loud voice when entertaining the family with anecdotes from his many interesting experiences, along with his cheerful laugh and dad humour made him the life of any party!
The shock of his sudden departure feels like a hurricane has swept through our lives. He was an especially wonderful, loving husband and father, and he worked tirelessly to provide a wonderful life and home for his family and made sure they were all fed as he loved cooking.
We will miss him with all our hearts but know that he is flying free and catching up with his favourite Uncle John, looking after his beloved pets, Sheba and Mickey, and meeting his daughter Allison who never made it into this world. Until we meet again.
Family is planning a private celebration of Rob's life.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Winnipeg Humane Society or charity of your choice in his name.

Rob, I am so heartbroken to hear your sudden passing, and you were too young to be gone. I would like to say that I was really glad to get to know you more in the last two years. Rob, I knew that you were such a good man and have sensed that you were very spiritual like me. Wanted to say thank you for being supportive as you got to know me more and understood how I got through lately. Shelley and Breanne were so lucky to have you in their life and treated them so well, you were so full of life and knew the true definition of family and friendship. Your amazing cooking meals never will be forgotten especially Thanksgiving. You were so passionate with cooking and baking all from love that you put in. Shelley and you had such beautiful relationship, and loved each other deeply than in the world. I can sense your spirit and Barry's around whenever I go, you guys did give me a lot of messages included guidance during my journey. Knew that Barry's spirit didn't leave Earth as he have been watching Shelley, Breanne and waited for you to meet him in the afterlife. I know you would be so happy to see your brother in law, your father in law and daughter Allison. She would be there by your side, same as Barry and Grandpa Ted. I am sure you want your girls to stay strong and wouldn't want them to be sad over your departure from the Earth. Rob, you always will be watching over your girls in Earth and would guide them to the beautiful journey as they would need so much love and heal during the difficult time. Looking forward to communicate with you spiritually more, same as Barry. You will be greatly missed by everyone who you truly knew and loved. Take it easy, Rob and watch over your girls to remind them of great memories about you forever. - Posted by: Jennifer (Friend ) on: Jul 28, 2023

Dad It’s your first Father’s Day in heaven 🙏🏻♥️ My heart still aches in sadness, my silent tears still flow. For what it meant to lose you, no one will ever know. Although you can’t be here with me, we’re truly not apart, until the final breath I take, you’ll be living in my heart. Though absent you are very near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Dad to hear your voice and see you smile And just to sit and talk to you, would be my only wish today. On this your first Father’s Day in heaven. I’m thinking of you daddy and love and miss you so much ♥️🙏🏻 Love Breanne - Posted by: Breanne (Daughter ) on: Jul 05, 2023

I have not seen Rob for almost 40 years, but memories of our days in a Heavy Metal rock band > "IRIDIUM" still seem like yesterday. He was an accomplished bass player, singer and song writer. He suggested the name of the band (IRIDIUM is one of the World's Rarest Metals!) and also designed our LOGO. We had some very exciting times playing in Winnipeg bars and travelling around Rural Manitoba and even into Saskatchewan as we had our own bus. We ended the band in 1985 and went our separate ways. Hearing the news today from our former drummer Terry, really saddened me even though we had not spoken for all those years. I hope his family and friends will be able to endure this terrible loss. My sincere condolences to all who knew Rob. I will definitely donate to The Winnipeg Humane Society in his memory. - Posted by: Rick Schween (Band mate almost 40 years ago) on: Apr 06, 2023

I worked with Rob for nearly 20 years before my retirement from Bison Transport. Rob was a great guy, whose enthusiasm was contagious; he made friends easily, was a born entertainer with a hilarious sense of humour, and made all work enjoyable for everyone around him. His particularly strong enthusiasm for trucking and safety greatly influenced all of his students, setting a great foundation for their new careers. Rob will be sorely missed by all who knew him, and my heart especially goes out to his close friends and family. - Posted by: Eric Roeder (Co-worker ) on: Apr 02, 2023

I am deeply saddened to hear of Rob’s sudden passing. We may not have been close recently, but I loved you like a son would love his father at a point in my life. You were there for me when my father passed, and I will never take that for granted. I cherished our time together during the trips to Disney world, our time spent camping, and the endless hours spent on the acreage in Teulon, making it a more beautiful place to live. These are memories I will carry with me for my entire life. A large part of the reason I was driven to take my PPL was your deep passion for aviation. I held out hope that one day we could see each other again and I could take you up on a flight. My deepest condolences to the Rudyk family in this dark time.
