JOSEPH SAMUEL (JOSH) HALPRIN

April 28, 1949 -January 12, 2023

We are deeply saddened to share the news of Josh’s death at the age of 73. After a two-year battle with both Alzheimer’s and Cancer, he passed away gently with family at his side.

Josh was born in Winnipeg, the oldest son, and one of five siblings. He was predeceased by his brother Irving Charles (Chuckie), and his parents, Miriam (Finkelstein) and Leonard Halprin. Josh is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter Sarah; son Michael (Rachael); sister Rokie Bernstein (Robert); brother David; sister Megan; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; and great-nephews.

We will miss Josh dearly but will forever remember him, his mischievous grin and quirky sense of humour.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Canmore Golf and Curling Club, in Canmore, AB, on Sunday April 30 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. You may contact the family through wanderingmegan@gmail.com.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I got to meet Josh only a few times. I’m so grateful for those times, he made me feel included and welcome in the family. He was so easy to be with and he had a wonderful sense of humor. Thinking back … One thing that stands out to me was when he would talk about his wife and kids it was so obvious how much he loved them. I wish I would have known him longer. - Posted by: Sandra Vine (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2023

  • My deepest condolences to Rokie, David, Megan and Josh's family who I have yet to meet. Having known Josh only in my youth, I remember him as one of the easiest people to get along with I have ever known. My heart goes out to all of you at this time. - Posted by: Steve Rome (Family friend) on: Apr 09, 2023

  • Sincere condolences to Josh’s family. I grew up on Ash Street in Winnipeg with Josh in the 1950’s and ‘60’s. It was a great time for large families and kids from the whole street to get together and play. I remember stopping in to have lunch with Josh at his house one day on our way home from River Heights School. I wish the best to Josh’s wife and children in their time of loss. - Posted by: Rick WISHART (School friend) on: Apr 08, 2023
