Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I got to know Marge a little bit as we both went through treatment in 2013 and we both worked on the same floor at Bannatyne campus. I am so sorry to hear that she has passed away. I just read the obituary in the MCI bulletin. I am not sure that I knew that we were both students there. I remember her as a very kind and upbeat person as we both waited to see our doctors. I will cherish that memory and I send my deepest condolences to her family. She was a bright light during a dark time. - Posted by: Shelley Derksen (Acquaintance) on: Aug 14, 2023

  • Marge has been our neighbour on Lindsay Street for the last 16 years. We were a young couple when we moved in, and were expecting our first son. She welcomed us to the neighbourhood with open arms. We had many chats over the years about being mother's to only boy's. She would share her wisdom on parenting and always spoke proudly of Lucas, Nathan and Levi. Every Christmas she would send over baked good's for us, which was always so thoughtful and delicious. In the summer she would share gardening tips. I will miss our chats over the fence. Our thoughts are with Ray, the boy's and all of Marge's family. She will be missed. - Posted by: Kristin Dulay (Neighbor) on: Apr 14, 2023

  • So sorry to hear of her passing. I always enjoyed seeing Marge in the halls at Westgate, where I had the pleasure of teaching her sons. My heart goes out to the family - you’re in my thoughts. - Posted by: Lisa Martin (Teacher of her sons) on: Apr 13, 2023

  • I have known Marge for over thirty years, through work mainly. I considered her a friend. During this time I had plenty of opportunity to admire and appreciate her goodness, strength, integrity, directness, and willingness to help. She was invaluable in facilitating ongoing collaborations and exchanges between members of my lab and the Cattini lab, and we (wherever we may be in the world) all mourn her passing. Marge's presence is behind many publications, awards achievements, of many of us over the years. Her warmth and sage guidance helped ease the trials and tribulations of lab members. She was an amazing person, and I try to live by her motto, "We soldier on". - Posted by: Elissavet (Vetta) Kardami-Cattini (Friend, Colleague) on: Apr 13, 2023
