DOREEN VIOLET POUND

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Doreen Violet Pound at Nanaimo General Hospital on April 5, 2023, at age 91 years.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Violet Pound (nee Adderson), sister Audrey and brother-in-law Ollie (Browning), brother Francis, and beloved son Donald (Donny). She leaves to mourn her daughters, Lynn Campbell (Carl), Susan Campbell (Cam), Cori Campbell (Marc); grandchildren, Lexi, Dalia, Lisa, Devon (Lindsay) and great-grandchildren, Karmyn, Nicholas, Brynn, Emmett and Avery.

Doreen was born in Winnipeg, MB on December 9, 1931, where she attended Grosvenor School and Kelvin High School, raised her family in Crescentwood, and co-owned Pound Florist on Mulvey Avenue (later Grant Park Plaza), Campbell's Garden Supplies on Waverley Street as well as two other successful businesses in Rivereast Mall and Brandon, MB.

Much of Doreen's leisure time was spent volunteering at Crescentwood Community Club supporting her children's interests in hockey and dance. Summers were spent with family and friends at her beloved cottage located on Ena Lake, ON where she worked hard to create the family legacy it is today.

A private interment will be held at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Winnipeg at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Craig Street Cats, craigstreetcats.ca or Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter petrescueshelter.com

  • I'm sure going to miss my Auntie Doreen. She used to take care of me when I was younger and I stayed at her lake cabin back in the days in Ontario, Canada. She always kept me entertained with her sense of humor. Rest in Peace my dear Auntie Doreen. I hope our mother, Audrey, and our Nanny (Violet) are taking good care of you. • Sad to see your mom has passed, my condolences to the family. Last of the group to go, the end of an era. The friendships they had you don’t hear of any more. Their monthly “club” meet ups and annual trek to the states. Putting on our wedding showers making fancy sandwiches from scratch. Wonderful memories. Coming together to support each other in good times and bad. My thoughts are with you 💕 - Posted by: Terry Murray (Gerry Woodcocks daughter) on: Apr 13, 2023
