MERLE SCHWARTZ

Merle Schwartz, 90, of Palm Desert, CA, passed away on January 2, 2023, of natural causes.

Merle was born on October 15, 1932 to Irene and Louis Rabinovitch in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She attended Kelvin High School and was active in sports and in the community. In 1953, she met Wilfred Schwartz, and they wed in 1954, going on to have three children, Sindy, Caron and Nancy. Merle decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Merle was passionate about being a homemaker for her three girls and husband, supporting them through the many passages of their lives. She supported her family move to New York City in the 1960s, a move to LA and back to Winnipeg in the 1970s.

She was always there for her many friends since childhood. She often let people recover from illness by sharing her home. She was always the best cook and hostess, She made it her mission to help others. She also raised her two dogs Zorro and Tammy, her loves. Merle ultimately made her home in Palm Springs, California in 1981. Merle was a lover of the arts and when she wasn't filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found going to theater, travelling, supporting the girls' activities and later those of her grandchildren. We will miss her greatly.

Merle was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter Ali Post, brother David Rabb, sisters, Ethel Hoffer and Rose Rosen. She is survived by her daughters, Sindy Post, Caron Schwartz Venckus, Nancy Armstrong and husband Ray Armstrong and five grandchildren, Adam Post, Eli Venckus, Aidan Venckus, Anais Armstrong and Aliya Armstrong , sister-in-law Sheila Rabb and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral was held on January 8, 2023 at Mt. Sinai Hollywood Hills, California.

She will remain in our hearts forever and dearly missed.
