SHIRLEY JUNE TERRIS
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearly loved Shirley Terris at her home on April 7, 2023.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Jim Terris of 54 years in 2002.
She will be sadly missed by her beloved daughter Carole; cousins Carol and Marlene; her cat Chloe and others who loved her.
Shirley grew up in Bergland, Ontario where she started to teach school at the age of seventeen.
She later moved to Winnipeg when she married Jim and completed a hair dresser course at Marvel School.
Mom was a people person and made many friends during her lifetime because of her endearing personality, often handing out her favourite hard candy to people seated near her at church.
She loved to laugh and her beautiful smile will be greatly missed.
Mom was a wonderful homemaker and loved to entertain guests with her delicious meals, baking and hors d’oeuvres.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crochet, cake decorating plus other handicrafts.
She loved her faith and her church community, reading the Bible every day and that’s how she gained her strength and courage.
She had volunteered for the Riverview Health Centre and her church.
Mom was a soft-hearted animal lover, often feeding the city wildlife.
She enjoyed planting flowers in her flower beds every year.
Mom travelled with her husband Jim, going to Hawaii, Portugal, Mexico and Florida among other destinations.
Many thanks go out to the Palliative Care Team, Dr. Roundtree-James and Home Care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society or to the Humane Society to honour her.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will follow at a later date.
