PRISCILLA MARTINEZ SANCHEZ
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Priscilla Martinez Sanchez, 77, of Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 8, 2023, with her family by her side.
She was born to the late Francisco Martinez and Manuela De Guzman, September 11, 1945, in Mandaluyong, Philippines and was the fifth of thirteen siblings. Priscilla, or Precy as she is known to friends, graduated from Mapa High School in 1962 and proceeded to the Philippine College of Commerce where she earned an Associate in Commercial Science in 1965.
She was married to Antonio Sanchez in 1971. They lived together in the Philippines for 17 years before immigrating to Canada in 1988. Precy is survived by her two children, Francis Allan and Antonio Jr. (Iding). She is also survived by her grandson Augustus. Precy also leaves behind her sisters, Zenaida, Angelina (Edgardo), Anastacia (Jesus) and brothers, Rolando (Divina) and Vergilio (Christie).
Precy worked with the City of Winnipeg Public Works department finance unit for 16 years until her retirement in 2006. In the Philippines Precy and her husband ran Filnyne Business Concepts Corporation, a manpower services company and Dikkory Foods a restaurant operation. Previous to this Precy was employed by the US Air Force at Clark Air Base. She loved tending to her flowers, garden and lovebirds. Precy was devoted to her family and leaves behind many beautiful and inspiring memories.
We would like to thank the staff at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg who got to know and took good care of our mother during her stay.
Viewing ceremony will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave. and interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main St.
