HAROLD MCCORT
After a brief illness, Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Dad was a devoted family man, and enjoyed talking with people at any time, about almost anything. He was fortunate to have many lifelong friends as well as many great neighbours that were always there for him and Mom. His passion for cars continued throughout his life, and he spent hours following classic car auctions.
Born in Edmonton, his family moved a few times, eventually settling in Winnipeg. While he had many career options, he decided early on that he would remain in Winnipeg with his parents and sister, which he did.
He married Mom, Kathleen Henry, in 1963 and had two children - Barry (Christine) and Janice (Dan). He was also blessed to have three grandchildren - Daniel, Adam and Matthew.
He was predeceased by his father, Fred, his mother, Myrta, and his sister, Doreen, as well as his sister's fiance, Cec Watt.
In accordance with his wishes, there will not be a funeral.

Dear Kay and Family, it is with deep regret to see that dear Harold has passed away. If there is one consolation it is that he certainly enjoyed a life of great longevity and we trust his vibrant spirit was intact to the very last. For the members of the Watt family, Harold will always be the “best man” at our parents’ and grandparents’ wedding. One role that was to prove so enduring over the course of the lasting friendship that he enjoyed with my grandfather throughout so many decades together. We will always recall visits with Harold with great fondness, his jovial and carefree character was always welcome. Even for us, the “grandkids”, I will never forget that one time in public, Harold stopped to entertain us with his wit and great sense of humour without knowing who we were! When he found out who we were, the laughter that ensued was akin to one of those 1930s comic films that still bring smiles to my face now. Thank you Harold, for being the best man and best friend that my grandfather could ever have had. I certainly hope that the motorcycles you’re both now riding take you to vistas and places that rival anything you beheld together during those famous (and dare I say infamous?) rides in the days of your youth. To Kay and family, please accept our sincere thanks for sharing your dad with our family all those years! Like Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau (and you know who is which in our version of the “Odd Couple”), I can hear their chuckles even now! So sorry at dear Harold’s loss, on behalf of our entire family to yours. - Posted by: Josh Watt (Family friend) on: May 02, 2023

We were so sorry to hear of Harold's passing. He and my dad Glen grew up together and were lifelong friends. I never got tired of hearing about all their adventures together and the resulting trouble they got in. Having lost Dad last fall I know that he and Harold are back together with all their friends planning their future escapades. Our sincere condolences to Kay and the family at this difficult time. Sending Love and hugs your way. Evelyn, Mary Ann, Grant, Cameron Metcalf and families. - Posted by: Grant Metcalf (friend ) on: Apr 27, 2023

We met Harold when we were all working at the Research Branch, Department of Education in the late 70's and early 80's. Harold was a great character, always coming up with something - like selling bean sprouts. We remember him fondly. Our deepest condolences to Kay and the family. - Posted by: Linda Lee & Larry Bremner (Former Colleagues) on: Apr 20, 2023

I met Harold and his sidekick Willy Watt at Metro Motors, where a bunch of car enthusiasts congregated on Saturday mornings. He always had interesting experiences to share and he loved to talk about his MB SL190. Sadly, time marches on. - Posted by: Bert Phillips (friend) on: Apr 18, 2023

I was only fortunate to meet Harold a couple times but even in that limited time I knew he was a real firecracker. He had a great sense of humour and was equally interested as interesting to talk with. I am also keenly aware of how loved and respected he was by his family and friends. My deepest condolences to Barry and Christine as well as all of Harold’s family. - Posted by: Cathy Perkins (Friend ) on: Apr 17, 2023
