CAROLE JOYCE STONE
The world lost a good one! On March 25, 2023, at an age that no one really knew for sure, the Good Lord called Carole Joyce Stone, AKA “Reverend Momma Whoopie Stone,” home. We can only imagine that worship in Heaven that day was a little different with her presence!
One of Carole’s greatest achievements and what she was most proud of, was undoubtedly her family. She left behind an amazing spiritual legacy to a family that included her 4 children, Holly McMullin, (Paul), Robin Medeiros, (Nick), Collin Stone (Tricia) and Cameron Stone. It also included 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was a sister to Janice Burt (Bill), Gerald Parson, an aunt, a great aunt, a cousin, as well as an amazing friend to so many.
Carole was born in Winnipeg. She was known for her incredible faith, infectious personality, and she was filled with an incredible amount of tenacity, and positive attitude. Her genuine kindness which made her a favorite among family and friends.
One of Carole's passions was music. She was the beloved founder and director of a musical group called “Sisters of the Holy Rock”. Carole's infectious spirit and boundless energy attracted a truly amazing group of talented singers, performers, and musicians which was the driving force behind the Group. They have performed over 500 performances and raised over $3 Million for charities throughout Manitoba.
Carole had an incredible work ethic, in addition to raising her family, she worked as a funeral assistant, did private catering, worked for River East School Division for over 30 years. She was a choir director, organist, even had time to be a limo driver.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
Come join us for a celebration of an amazing life well lived on April 29, 2023, at 550 Wellington Crescent at 11:00 a.m..

Carole came to Grey Street United Church as our organist and then choir director and became friends with many of us beyond her ‘work’. Regular canasta evenings, birthday gatherings, time at cottages and then of coarse prepping for fundraising~egg rolls, meat pies and Carole’s delicious perogy recipe… Carole loved scrabble and knew her words, she loved making scrapbooks for each of her children (she had saved decades of cards, awards etc), and remaking jewelry. Many spoke at Carole’s celebration of Carole’s thrifting and her love of clothes and it was a wonderful sharing gift of her scarves, cd’s, and momentous to all who attended. Carole would be so proud of her family for the planning and loving they shared today. - Posted by: Liz martin (Friend) on: Apr 29, 2023

It breaks my heart to think we have lost such a wonderful positive energetic soul. Carol tricked me into joining the sisters at a time when I needed them most. I just didn’t know it. Her tell it like it is, compassionate, optimistic outlook worked for me. I loved my time with her and will miss her. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends as they mend that hole in their hearts and remember the precious moments with her. - Posted by: Cathie Rose (Friend) on: Apr 18, 2023

Was truly saddened to hear of Carole's passing... Had heard that she just kept on doing GREAT things as the years passed & am sorry we all lost touch over the years..but life..does have a tendency to do that to us all. We all meet back in the late 60's..when we moved into Osborne Apts...& instantly clicked!! Had ALOT of fun & good times...as the years went by..the birth of our kids...the ups & downs of life...moving away from each other..etc..etc.. Then we lost touch..but she would pop up from time to time in my mind & especially when I read about her new "gig"!! So, VERY cool was that!!! She was indeed such an amazing person, giving, loving & loved in turn by so many for sure! Am sure she will be missed by many & all the lives she touched with her uniqueness..especially with her gift of music... Rest in Peace Carole... With Love, Sympathy & Understanding to ALL her Family & Friends... God Bless.. Carol - Posted by: Carol (Friend from back in the day!!!) on: Apr 17, 2023

Our deepest condolences Holly, Robin, Collin, Cameron and families on the passing of your dear Mother and Grandmother. Our families shared many fun times together in our growing up years; as my mother and Carole's mother were sisters. Beautiful memories were made and forever cherished. I will truly miss my catching up phone calls and texts as well as our occasional lunches with Carole. We are praying that your family will have the strength to deal with these difficult times. God's Peace be with all of you. With Love, Grace (nee Drewlo)& Mel Darroch - Posted by: Grace & Mel Darroch (cousin) on: Apr 16, 2023

Your mom was a truly extraordinary person. Anyone who had the privilege of being in her orbit was lucky. She has been the heart and soul of our group for 30 years. Only after her passing did I realize that this has nothing to do with her physical body. She is still very much with us in all we do And I hear her voice always in my head. I was so happy and grateful to call her my friend and will forever be in awe of her boundless energy and steadfast faith. I was privileged to be able to spend time with her in her last days, and even in the face of such adversity, she was nothing but positivity finding happiness and grace in every day little things. I am aware how much time leading our group demanded, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this wonderful woman with us.❤️💕 Her family was the most important thing in her life and she was so fiercely proud of all of you. I know that the wonderful memories she has left you with will sustain you in this time of loss. Take good care of each other!! - Posted by: Lynn Ohlson (President Sisters of the Holy Rock, grateful friend) on: Apr 15, 2023
