MARION SCHROEDER
Our Wonderful, Kind and Intelligent Mother left this world on Tuesday, April 5, 2023.
She was born in Winnipeg on April 12, 1924 and had a wonderful childhood surrounded by loving parents, uncles and cousins.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Christopher MacKay and Hilda MacKay as well as her brother Bill MacKay and her son Dr. Garry Schroeder.
Mom is survived by her children, Chris (Joanne), Carolyn (John), Paul (Cathy), grandchildren, Eric, Joe, Brent (Erin) and great grandchildren, Noelle, Elina and Zavi.
Mom worked for over 50 years as a volunteer secretary with the Canadian Legion's Women's Auxiliary. She would drive from Fort Garry to St. James, in the early evening, even if the weather was snowy and slippery to fulfil her volunteer duties. She also had a group of friends who met every morning at Tim Horton's. They were so liked by the manager that they were named The Morning Glories. This wonderful group of ladies enriched our Mom's life with many years of companionship. Mom was a season ticket holder with the RWB, The Manitoba Theatre Centre and the Manitoba Opera. She was also keenly interested in world events.
Mom lived her final years at Brightwater Senior Living of Tuxedo where she was surrounded by kindness and excellent care.
A life of almost 99 years is indeed a long life, but always too short for those who loved her and needed her. Her love and laughter will forever be missed.
Thank you to our beautiful Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother for all your care, honesty and kindness. You were a beautiful person and anyone who knew you was blessed.
A family memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, should people wish to donate, the Winnipeg Humane Society was one of her favourite charities as she loved all animals.
