FRANCES PAZDOR
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Nini - mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother - Frances Pazdor on December 21, 2022.
Predeceased by her husband Ed in 2004 and grandchild Thomas, her parents, Rose (Nanny) and John Knight, and many of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Judy (Dave), Charly (Liz), Janet, Phil, Andy (Suzanne), and Steve (Sue), and her remaining siblings, sisters, Terry, Sister Rose Marie (Buddy) and brother Jerry. Left to remember her are her grand and great-grandchildren, Christopher (Sabrina - Mia, Marcus), Melinda, Adam, Simon, Jill (Troy - Anne, Gwen), Bob (Andrea - Corrina, Gabby, Damian), Margery (Dan), Raquel, Alex, Calvin (Dan), Kenny (Karissa), Jennifer, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was loved by all her family. This included all extended family and friends.
After Mom left the workforce and got married to Ed in 1949, she and Ed moved into a house on Juno St. then Elgin Ave. where she raised her six children. Mom took a job at St. Paul’s High School in 1969 as a secretary in the front office where she worked until she retired in 1984. She loved and cherished her time working at St. Paul’s and constantly referred to all students during her time there as "her boys".
After retiring, she and Ed did years of volunteer work at Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Arthritis Society. They did a bit of vacation travelling to the UK, Italy, and Greece, mostly staying in Winnipeg or trips out to visit Judy or Phil. Singing was a passion since she was a child. She sang at church, at weddings, and at funerals. She was proud to be a member and singer in the Sweet Adelines in the Winnipeg and Assiniboine chapters for many years and was honoured to receive an honorary lifetime membership.
After Ed’s passing, Mom moved from their house on Elgin into an apartment on Fort Street. This allowed her to be active walking around the Forks and streets of downtown and getting involved in all the social activities and events in the building. Mom moved for a short while to Catherine Place and Tuxedo Villa then to St. Joseph Action-Marguerite on Leila for almost five years.
We would like to say thank you to all the staff at St. Joseph Action-Marguerite on Leila with a special thank you to staff members Maria, Sheila, and Marjorie who took great care of her during her time there. The family knows the staff loved our mother.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford Street in Winnipeg. The service will be streamed and can be accessed through the church website at www.stignatius.ca. The family will have a private interment on Saturday.
Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation may donate to their charity of choice.
Family and friends may sign a

I remember Frances very well. She always treated me with kindness. She always made me feel welcome. Her smile always made me feel happy. I know she was a wonderful mother because of what I have seen in her children, especially Charly with whom I have had a friendship of more than 50 years. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Earl Cooper and Lisette Ross (Friends) on: Apr 25, 2023
