Leonora Helen Unrau, aged 94, originally from Central Butte, SK, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, April 23 at Bethania Care Home in Winnipeg, MB.
Leonora was predeceased by parents, Jacob and Aganetha (Andres) Brown and by parents-in-law, Jacob and Katharina (Klassen) Unrau as well as by her brother Alfred Brown and sister Hildegarde Thiessen.
Also predeceased by in-laws, Anne (Alfred) Brown, Ben Thiessen (Hilda), John and Anne Unrau, Walter and Helen Unrau and Henry Nickel.
She is survived by sons, Gerry and Debbie (Bueckert) and Ed and (Tannis Walde), grandchildren, Amanda Shendruk (Tyler), Matthew Unrau, Sarah Unrau (Mackenzie Fast), and Amy Bartels (Nolan), great-grandchildren, Finnegan, Solomon and Casey Fast. She will also be remembered by her sister-in-law Tina Nickel.
Funeral will be held on Friday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Friends Funeral Chapel, 2146 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. Viewing at 10:00 a.m. Service at 10:30 a.m., followed by a lunch and time of remembering. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MCC Canada, Westgate Mennonite Collegiate, Rosthern Junior College or Bethania Mennonite Care Home.
Leonora will be missed as a quiet, thoughtful woman who was forever a dedicated teacher.

My deepest condolences on the death of Leonora. She subbed for me many times over the years, and we became friends when we discovered she was the best friend of my Aunt Genevieve when they were younger, both living in Central Butte.
