Orville Clinton passed away at 90 years of age on Tuesday March 28, 2023. Orville was pre-deceased by his parents Roy and Inez Shaw, his brother Donald and sister Edna (Ed) Burke.
Orville will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Elva (Little), son Dean Shaw, daughters Kimberlee Bridget Shaw (Wes) and Heather Day (Paul). Grandchildren, Tara (Kyle) Carey and Jenna Shaw, Kaleigh, Miranda (Dallas) and Tessa Stobbe, Riley (Rachelle), Spencer and Kolby (Sarah) Day, and thirteen great-grandchildren, Maverick, Aspen, Nas, Olivia, Lucy, Luca, Chia, Kooper, Komrie, Jaxson, Sage, Harvey and Emmett.
Orville was born at Riverside, Manitoba. Orville lived on a farm and was schooled at Fairfax, Manitoba. He started working at an early age for the Department of Highways (Good Roads Department) from 1949 until the 60's. In 1954 Orville met and married Elva. They soon after had their 3 children and purchased their first house in Brandon on Noonan Dr. where the family lived for 13 years. At this time Orville opened Shaw's Sporting Goods until a dry summer told him that sporting goods were the last thing to sell.
In 1971 the family moved to Killarney where Orville began his career in hotel management. Orville continued his path by owning The City Centre Hotel, The Red Fox Restaurant and Bar, The Elkhorn Hotel and The Crystal Hotel.
Upon retirement Orville enjoyed the cabin and his lawn care at Oak Lake Beach during the summers. He also enjoyed cards with many friends at happy hour, and golfing at Sunnyside. Fishing, hunting goose, pheasant, moose and elk locally and across Canada and the US brought him great joy. His favourite place was deer hunting and playing cards out at the Shack by Riverside. He will join his many friends around the table at the bar in the sky.
It's been a full life to celebrate! He was a good sport, fine man and friend. As the patriarch of the Shaw family he will be greatly missed.
A community celebration of life will take place at Lady of the Lake, 135 B 17th St. N, Brandon, MB on Saturday, June 17th from 4 pm to 8 pm.

I have very fond memories of Orville and Elva. Orville gave me my first job experience as a young teen. Orville and Elva took me me into their home in Killarney so I could hang out with Kimberlee Bridget, and dispense icecream and burgers at their Restaurant's takeout window. Orville treated me with respect and trust. His kindness made a big difference during a time when I needed it most. He was a good man and I know he will be missed. With my sincere condolences to the family 🙏🏼 Cindy Mitchell Ottawa - Posted by: Cindy Mitchell (friend) on: May 01, 2023
