Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryYVONNE DESROSIERS
Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Yvonne Desrosiers (née Tétreault), passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022. She was 91.
She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, her son Bernard, her grandsons, Donald, Ben, Marcus and Dustin, her granddaughter Angelina and her great-granddaughter Bella. She is survived by her large family - 11 children, Marcel (Lucille), Agathe (Gabriel Arbez), Simone (Roger Normandeau), Marie, Claude, Marguerite (Raymond Simard), Paul (Lori), Tumina Pun (Bernard's widow), Lucille (Robert Proulx), Hélène (Dennis St. George), Gabriel (Shelley) and Daniel (Nancy), 36 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Born on February 6, 1931, Yvonne was originally from Ross, Manitoba. She was the eldest of 15 children and grew up surrounded by love from her siblings and her parents, David and Albina Tétreault. Married on October 20, 1951, at the age of 20, she accompanied her husband Ernest throughout his life until his death in 2017. Together they had 12 children who were raised with love.
Yvonne has always been an exemplary stay-at home mom. Her daughters, admiring their loving mother, took pleasure in learning everything from her to make their own home a welcoming place. Yvonne always made sure there was food on the table, whether it was at mealtime, lunches for school or snacks for when company dropped by. She also made sure everyone’s homework was done and never forgot to provide for the family’s well-being.
She instilled in her family compassion, respect for others, love of a job well done, cleanliness and the pleasure of gardening. In fact, every summer, as the sun warmed the Manitoba prairies with its first rays, Yvonne planted a large garden in which the girls picked delicious vegetables throughout the summer.
The boys, meanwhile, learned to work on the farm mostly with their father, Ernest. After long hours tending to the barn, the cows, the hay, and everything that makes up life on a farm, they knew they could find the comforts of a well-maintained home but also of Mom’s great cooking.
Yvonne liked to keep her mind active - she loved doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, playing cards, competing against strangers on the Internet - but most importantly she loved to WIN!
Dear Mom, we miss you already. The flame you have placed in our hearts through love and trust will continue to shine as we pay tribute to the hardworking, loving, good and honest woman that you were.
The family would like to thank the staff at Villa Youville for their care throughout her 14-year stay.
The funeral service will take place at the Ste. Anne Catholic Church on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
