Dorothy May Wagner passed away peacefully at Southwood Care Centre Calgary on April 10, 2023.
Dorothy is survived by son Brad Wagner (Jan Williams), daughter Tanya Wagner and daughter-in law Vicki Cooper, grandchildren, Brittny Wagner (Brett Gibbons), Eric Wagner, Vanessa Wagner, brother Brian Meldrum and sister-in law Diane Meldrum. Dorothy was predeceased in 2012 by husband Eugene (Gene) George Stanley Wagner with whom she enjoyed 54 years together.
Dorothy was born to parents, Marion and Andrew Meldrum on March 7, 1936 in Dundee, Scotland and moved with her family to Canada in 1947. She met her husband Gene in Hamilton, Ontario, and they were married on June 7, 1958. Dorothy, Gene and family moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1970 and eventually settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1979.
In Winnipeg, Dorothy cherished the vibrant cultural scene, her beloved Blue Bombers, her closely-knit family, and wonderful friends made over four decades. Dorothy enjoyed her career in the travel industry working at Sunflight Vacations, Geography Club Holidays and CAA. Dorothy's love of adventure flourished throughout her career. This allowed Dorothy and Gene countless opportunities to explore the world, experience new cultures, make memories, and form lasting friendships. Her independence and love of travel were so strong, she continued her excursions until the remarkable age of 86.
In 2021, Dorothy moved to Calgary, Alberta to be closer to family. Although it was difficult for her to move at that stage of life, it was a decision that she did not regret.
Although Dorothy and Gene lived in Canada, they spent much time with Tanya and Vicki in Australia, and they considered it their second home. As they planned, Dorothy's ashes will be scattered at Sawtell Beach near Coffs Harbour, the same location as where Gene's ashes were spread. This Celebration of Life will take place at later date.

I knew Dorothy since her son Bradley was in College and her daughter Tanya and I were in high school together. Bradley and I later got married and had three beautiful children, Brittny, Eric and Vanessa. Dorothy enjoyed her life among her friends and coworkers, and also her family. I still remember the Neil Diamond LPs turning in the large wooden stereo all night at family gatherings. May she rest in peace.
