SHEILA CHRISTINE KEATCH

Peacefully, on April 16, 2023, in the loving arms of her family, our Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend passed away. Mom’s funeral took place on April 20.

Mom leaves behind her true love and companion of 50 years, Don, her beloved children, Graham, who passed away at 11 months, Erin (Patrick) and Michael (Gemma). She adored her grandchildren Liam and Iris (Erin), and Olivia and Mia (Michael), who adored her with equal measure.

Also left behind are brother Dan (Mary Lou), brother-in-law Ron (Janice), niece Allison and family, and her beloved Uncle Len and Aunt Shirley and their wonderful children in Ottawa.

Mom was born and raised in Crescentwood to Jim and Edna McKinnon. She met Dad in university and they were inseparable from the first date. Mom and Dad set up home in Charleswood, where we were raised with the love that sustains us to this day.

Family and friends meant everything to Mom. Birthdays, anniversaries, special events, and all acts of kindness, were appreciated and acknowledged by Mom. That meant Thank You notes were hand-written with addressed envelopes, then put in the mailbox. These were Mom’s rules to live by.

Mom loved her Church, St. Andrew’s Woodhaven. She loved the hymns and the beauty of the old words. She loved the rummage room, the annual bazaar, and her beloved ladies who raised money for women and children in need.

Above all, Mom was content with her life. She loved and was loved.

We have established a Fund with the Winnipeg Foundation to continue the spirit of giving of Mom and her dear friends. All gifts to the fund will be used to support women and children in need.

Gifts may be made to the Sheila Christine Keatch Memorial Fund at The Winnipeg Foundation, 1350 One Lombard Place, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X3. Tel 204-944-9474, www.wpgfdn.org., or to the charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I am ao sorry to hear of Sheila' death I just found out today. Sheila was such a sweet woman. We saw Sheila and her brother Danny once in awhile growing up as Uncle Jim and my dad, Dan McKinnon were brothers. I reached out to Sheila as an adult with our own kids and we communicated occasionally sending each other pictures of our children. Then life got away from us and we haven't communicated in several years, but I have heard from other family members over the years how she was doing. My love and deepest condolences to her husband Don, and kids Erin and Michael and grandchildren. I will keep her memory in my heart ❤️.
