Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD (GERRY) KUCERA
After a long and active life, Gerry passed away, not from old age but from complications due to Covid. He was a life-long resident of Elmwood in Winnipeg.
He leaves to mourn his step-daughters, Michele and Denise of BC; Michele's son Michael of Manitoba; nephews and nieces, Tommy and Karen in Winnipeg, Stan in the US, Lylla in BC and Bradley in Mexico, and half a dozen more in younger generations. He also leaves many friends in Winnipeg and in the community near his market garden at Richer.
In his early life, he volunteered on expeditions with the Manitoba Archaeological Society; he worked for three decades at Canada Packers; and then "retired" to pursue his passion for gardening. He volunteered with Harvest Manitoba for many years, driving and delivering, and donating his excess produce; and in recent years had a close relationship with the Riverwood Church Community Food Bank in Elmwood.
Donations in Gerry's memory may be made to Harvest Manitoba at winnipegharvest.org or to your favourite local food bank.

What a loss, we are over whelmed with grief. Al always says he's not my neighbor he's my pal. He would pop in and always guide me, Linda in the garden. I am pretty green. Always great conversations, always a great friendship. We will miss him greatly and our thoughts are with all of you. Rest Gerry. We will never forget you. Sorry for your loss. I do remember Uncle Gerry delivering a large amount of firewood one very cool winter evening and we stacked the wood together in the garage. It was a good experience and hard work but we together had a bit of fun and I will always remember him saying "a little bit of hard work never hurt anyone." Rest in Peace Uncle Gerry you were a gentle man. - Posted by: Judy Kucera (Stan's Wife (Wpg)) on: May 06, 2023
