SERLE FOWLER

January 11, 1942 - May 3, 2023

After a lengthy illness Serle passed away at the Grace Hospital on May 3, 2023.

He was predeceased by his parents, Grace and Campbell Fowler and his brother, Goldwyn. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 35 years, Sheryl.

Serle and Sheryl met in November 1986 and were married in December 1987. Over the years they enjoyed camping, hiking, cycling, x-country skiing and attending pops and jazz concerts and live theatre. They hosted many murder mystery parties and singalongs with good friends.

After retiring from Inland Cement, Serle curled in the winter and golfed in the summer. When his lung disease progressed to the point he couldn’t be active, he enjoyed watching sports on TV, mainly tennis, curling and golf.

At Christmas, Serle’s gifts of his homemade shortbread and fruit cakes were greatly appreciated.

Serle donated generously to many charities and if friends or relatives so desire they can make a donation in his memory to any pet rescue organization, the MB Lung Association or any charity of their choice.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no service.

Sheryl thanks family, friends and neighbours for their support at this time.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Saddened to hear about Serle’s passing. I played minor hockey with Serle and also worked with him at Inland Cement. Ironically, along with Garry Bell who also posted a tribute to Serle, the three of us all played minor hockey together and all worked at Inland. With all of us growing up in the North End, maybe that’s not so surprising. It’s been many years since I’ve had any contact with Serle, but I remember him as a very committed guy in anything he took on. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Wayne Wagner (Hockey teammate and work colleague ) on: May 22, 2023

  • Truly sorry to hear about the passing of Serle. I grew up two houses away from his. We chummed around a lot. I remember him and I trying to sing the latest Conway Twitty songs with the raspy, deep voice. We had a lot of fun with that. I considered Serle a very good friend. Rest in peace...... - Posted by: Bernie Cardey (neighborhood friend) on: May 17, 2023

  • Sorry to have read that Serle passed. Grow up on the same street. Last time a seen him was with John Morris, at Roy Jamieson's funeral. Thoughts are with you - Posted by: Beryl (Giddings) Savage (Friend) on: May 08, 2023

  • We are truly sorry to read that Serle has passed away. We hadn’t seen him for quite a while and are sorry he had been so ill. There was a time when we were very close to his family, but as time went in and paths changed due to growing families, etc., we lost contact. However, we hold the memories of many wonderful times with his family in our hearts. Sincere condolences to his loved ones. - Posted by: Doug and Elinore Loos (Family friend ) on: May 06, 2023

  • Sorry of Serles passing, had Serle work in lab with me for short time prior to me being transferred to California in late 1992. Also played some company baseball some years, great to know & work with. - Posted by: Garry Bell (Friend-Co worker) on: May 06, 2023

  • Sorry to hear of Serle's passing. We didn't really know Serle well, we were neighbours of his parents on Robertson Street but Serle was already away from home. We were happy to have Grace and Campbell for our neighbours. - Posted by: Ray & Faye Mason (acquaintance) on: May 06, 2023

  • I am truly sorry to hear Serle passed away. I appreciated Serle for his kind and gentle friendship to my parents who greatly enjoyed the company of both Serle and Sheryl on many happy and musical get togethers. Peace to Sheryl and family. - Posted by: Lisa Gooding ( Family friend) on: May 06, 2023
