Delia Fontaine passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the astounding age of 100, at the Villa Youville, in Ste. Anne, Manitoba. Delia was born on December 4, 1922 in Ste. Genevieve, Manitoba, the fourth child to Arthur Morin and Laurentine (nee Gauthier). Her siblings were Leo Morin, Odile Zelmer, Albertine Rivard, Louis Morin and Celina Bailey all whom have passed away. She is survived by her sister-in-law Jean Morin.
On October 10, 1942 Delia married the love of her life, Antonin (Tony) Fontaine at Ste. Genevieve. Tony passed away on June 9, 1985. Over a lengthy period of time, they produced 12 children: Rolande Perreault (Johnny); Louise Faucher (Deceased July 13, 1996) (Marcel); Suzanne Ricard (Marcel); Paul Fontaine (Georgette); Denise Hudrick (Rudy); Florence Taillefer (David); Paulette Crawford (Bradley), Juliette Bonderlique (Donald); Gerard Fontaine (Theresa); Gilles Fontaine (Deceased September 21, 2003); Michael Fontaine and Daniel Fontaine (Kimberly). Delia is survived by 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
After many years of being a mother to all of us, Delia went to work at the Villa Youville as a Nurse’s Aide. She was very passionate about her work and enjoyed taking care of the elderly. She enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers in her large garden over many years. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness and humor.
A special thank you to all the Nurse’s Aids and Nurses at the Villa Youville for the love and care that you give to our Mom. Thank you to Sister Rioux for the prayers and everlasting care.
A Memorial Service is to take place at Desjardin Funeral Home, 357 Des Meurons Street, Winnipeg at 1:00 p.m. on May 20, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Villa Youville in Ste. Anne.
