JOHN HAROLD ZUEFLE

July 16, 1947 - May 6, 2023

In loving memory of John Harold Zuefle of Winnipeg, Manitoba, who passed away on May 6, 2023, after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by his wife Helen; their son Stefan (Kim) and their two children, Emilia and Delilah; their son Lucas (Dana); his son Karl (Chrissie) and their children, Malcolm and Roman; and his daughter Kristen and her children, Parker, Cooper and Charlee.

He is also survived by his sisters, Dianne, Zona, and June and their families; the family of his late brother Michael; and many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by an older brother who passed away at birth; his mother Myrtle; his younger brother Michael; his father John; and his nephews, Stanley and Bryan.

Also mourning his passing are are his father-in-law Alexander and mother-in-law Martha; his sister- in- law Doreen (Gary) and brother-in-law Paul (Stephanie) and their respective families.

John was a hard-working man, who loved being a carpenter. Over the years, he also keenly pursued his interest in his family’s genealogy, which spurred on trips through Western Canada, Germany, and Ireland. Most importantly, however, he was a man who enjoyed the outdoors, be it fishing, hunting, boating, canoeing, foraging, or just being out in the quietness of nature. He so loved his time spent at the Interlake property. It was his “happy place”. He will also be sorely missed by his constant companion, his hunting dog Ned.

Special thank you to John’s health care team: Dr. Andrew McKay, Dr. Christina Kim, and Dr. Ralf Macek for their care and compassion.

As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no funeral or service. Interment will occur at a later date.
