KEVIN JAMES GILLEN

On May 1, 2023, our dear brother and uncle - Kevin James - passed away unexpectedly in Winnipeg at the age of 57. He joins his father James Mannix and mother Dorothy Doreen in our Lord’s house.

Although in recent years he struggled with addictions, he will forever be remembered by his brother as a real character who was funny, kind and always the “life of the party”.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Donations to any charity in Kevin’s memory would be appreciated.

Family and friends may sign a

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Sad to hear of Kevin's passing. Remember his humour and charm as a young high school student at St. Paul's High School. RIP - Posted by: David Chaze (teacher) on: Jun 19, 2023

  • I remember Kevin as a quietly brilliant & wickedly funny little brother to my cool friend Christopher. When, as a "mere undergrad", Kevin came by the main campus at UofM he could hold his own with all the high falluting & very intellectual grad students and had a knack for very subtly & good naturedly mocking us all (himself included). He had a good heart and he's gone too soon. Sincere condolences to his family & friends and may God bless his soul & welcome him home. - Posted by: Graham Todd (Friend) on: Jun 07, 2023

  • Sorry sorry to hear this news, Chris. Of the many happy memories of growing up down the street in Westwood, one of my favourites is us playing out on the street in front of your house one day, and all of a sudden, Kevin (maybe he's 3?) tearing out of your house naked and running toward us as your mom hauled it behind him trying to catch her escapee. I guess maybe she was changing or bathing him. Hilarious. He was always a character as far back as I can remember. Hope this reminiscence brings you a little comfort. - Posted by: Kelly Parker (Friend) on: May 13, 2023
