RICHARD (AL) CARRUTHERS

It is with great sadness that the family of Al Carruthers announce his peaceful passing on the afternoon of Friday, May 5, 2023 at the age of 78.

Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Marie; his children, Jodi (Bob and Ashley) and Deanna; his only brother Terry (Myrna); his niece Breanne (Jeff and Oliver); his nephew Reagan (Hayley and Caden); together with his extended family in Ontario, British Columbia and Scotland; and countless friends who were more like family.

Al had a lengthy career as a radio announcer and a short run as a TV weatherman. He was most proud of a media monitoring company he started with two colleagues. Following his retirement, Al most enjoyed heading to the lake to laze around in the pool and be surrounded by his family and friends.

In accordance with Al's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Since Al was most proud of his family, and they were very important to him, he would like you to gather with those you love, raise a glass and share memories, especially the funny ones. He will be there with you!

Memorial donations can be made in Al’s name to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

Al’s family kindly requests that you visit his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him are available there.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I was also one of the lucky ones to have worked with & joked around with Al during my time at CJOB. He had an infectious personality & smile that made anyone, listener, client or sale suit that he came in contact with feel at ease. I kept in touch after we both radio & knew that whatever he put his mind to, success was right around the corner. Rest in Peace my friend, gone, but never forgotten.
