It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Elaine Smith (Lagacé).
Forever remembered by her husband of 50 years Dave; son Mark (Haley); her pride and joy grandsons, Jackson, Zachary and Hunter; siblings, Cathy (Cal) Reese, Paulette Pearson, Gus (Candy) Lagacé, as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Theresa, sister Joanne Jarvis.
Elaine was born and raised in Saskatchewan. Her married life to an RCMP officer allowed her to call many provinces home. With a final posting to Manitoba, it became her long time home where she raised her son and fell in love with her grandchildren. She worked in numerous areas and found her expertise in workers compensation and labour issues. Owning a successful business, she was highly respected for her skill and work ethic. When not working or volunteering in politics Elaine had a passion for interior design, gardening and the arts.
In keeping with Elaine’s wishes, a private burial will take place at the RCMP Cemetery at Depot Division, Regina, Saskatchewan.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Charleswood and Maples Personal Care Homes for their compassionate care.
Memorial donations can be made in Elaine's name to the Manitoba Alzheimer or Parkinson Society.

It is with much sadness that we have heard of Elaine's passing. She was a special lady - with a sharp sense of humour. A ready smile, and a strong dedication to her family. Elaine was a wonderful neighbour. We were just doors apart from the Smith house while posted to Thompson, Manitoba and having several common interests, we spent many special times together, sharing meals, laughter and support. Sympathies now to Dave, Mark and family. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Vic and Jan GORMAN (friends and co-workers) on: May 14, 2023

Elaine was such a likeable and lovely person. One of those people you think only good things about. Although we haven't see her for several years, I recall like yesterday how just meeting her made you smile. We are so sorry for your loss much too early. Our sincerest condolences to you and your son and family Dave. Dave and Lynda Mauro - Posted by: David and Lynda Mauro (Friend and Colleague) on: May 14, 2023
