JAMES (JIM) TAYLOR WOOD

November 12, 1935 - May 12, 2023

Jim, loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 surrounded by his beloved family.

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 68 years, Olof, and his children Sandra (Dave), Gregory (Oonaugh), Gordon (Louise), Laureen (Milton), and Douglas (Sharon), 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and his brother Don. Born in Winnipeg to Jim and Evelyn Wood, he was the eldest of three boys. He was predeceased by his brother Jack.

Jim started working at the provincial government as a draftsman, where he met and married Olof Magnusson in 1955. Together they raised five children. He later got his commission as a Manitoba Land Surveyor, becoming a partner, and then sole owner, of Wilson and Neal. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field, he was elevated to Life Membership in 2000.

Jim was involved in various organizations, including the Masons, Scottish Rite, DeMolay, the Royal Order of Scotland, and St. Marks Lutheran Church, where he embraced their values and contributed to their missions.

Jim will be remembered for his professionalism, dedication, quick wit, and great sense of humour. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A funeral service honouring Jim's life will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Home (3030 Notre Dame) on Saturday, May 20, at 1:00 p.m.
