ROBERT (BOB) CARNEGIE
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our much loved Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend, Robert (Bob) Carnegie. Dad passed peacefully Friday May 5, 2023, with family at his side.
Bob will be deeply missed by his daughters, Lesley Morley (Kenneth), Nicole (Cory Fielding); his son Glenn (Adelyn Au); grandsons, Evan and Nolan Fielding; granddaughter Dani; his sister Hazel Baxter; and sister-in-law Kathleen Goodwin; nieces, nephews, friends and former colleagues.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Judith; parents, David and Dora; brother and sister-in-law Ian and Edith; and brothers-in-law, Peter Goodwin and Bill Baxter.
Bob was born November 12, 1936, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in East Kildonan and graduated from Lord Selkirk School. He pursued his education in accounting and graduated from Red River Community College.
Dad spent 35 years as a loyal employee of Manitoba Pool Elevators. He held many positions over the years starting as an internal auditor and retiring in 1999 as Controller. He gained some great friends at “the pool” that he stayed in touch with for all these years.
Bob had a passion for curling and skipped many teams to bonspiel championships. He would meet the love of his life Judy at a curling club when they were curling in a mixed league together. They were married for 45 wonderful years until Judy’s passing in 2010.
He enjoyed spending time at Lake Winnipeg. We spent our summers at Spruce Sands and later he and mom built a home and retired in Husavik. He liked to be outdoors golfing, canoeing, kayaking, cross country skiing, and most of all sitting on the beach soaking up the sunshine with a Pepsi in his hand.
Dad was always there to support us in our endeavours and chauffeured us to all our sports and activities without complaint. He continued this with his grandchildren and attended many school functions, hockey and lacrosse games and made sure to attend all birthdays including Dani’s in Vancouver.
Bob has been described by many as a kind, gentle, caring and compassionate soul who was liked by everyone.
He was always cheerful, positive and his optimism brightened your day.
Dad - “Bye for now,
Take care, We love you”
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Bob at Patient Experience Programs at CancerCare Manitoba.
