LYNDA JANE KLYMCHUK

May 21, 1949 - March 21, 2023

Lynn passed away suddenly in her Charleswood home on March 21, 2023.
She is survived by her son Jonathan, and sister Elaine Peacock. Lynn was preceded by her parents, Emma and Mickey Pollick. She cherished her lifelong friendships with Darlene Willis and Barb Klymchuk who will miss her dearly.
Growing up Lynn and Elaine often found themselves in unusual situations. On one occasion Lynn ended up stranded on the roof for several hours until her father returned home to rescue her. Her first car was a white 1967 Mustang chosen by Mickey. A pure gem. Lynn was a caring and devoted mother. One of Jonathan's first memories is of her comforting him overnight when he had an ear infection. In recent years they enjoyed watching Murder She Wrote and classic movies. Lynn loved crossword puzzles and reading. Her collection of Danielle Steele books could fill a barn!
Lynn received her BA and Teaching Certificate from University of Winnipeg and Manitoba, respectively. Lynn overcame shyness and taught for over 25 years and provided many wonderful learning experiences for her students. On one occasion Dan walked into one of her classes and saw her students huddled around her on the floor, listening intently, as she taught a lesson. Each Christmas Lynn received bags of presents from her students. She obviously cared for them and they her.
Lynn requested no service.
Lynn’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I was very sad to hear of Lynn’s passing. We had known each other growing up in West End Winnipeg. We attended the same junior high…General Wolf school.. And before high school her family moved to another district of Winnipeg. We did share some University courses..and in 1974 we went out after an exam..That is the night I met my husband..Garry.. Garry and I were at Lynn and Dan’s wedding.. I wish we had stayed in touch. She was a fabulous friend .. My address book still has her name and phone number on Longfellow Bay. • I was surprised and sad to hear of Lynn's recent passing. We were teaching partners for a number of years at Joseph Teres School. We were supportive of each other, sharing the day's joys and challenges of our Grade 2 classes. There were tears and laughter and I was so fortunate to have Lynn's kindness, her caring and her insight daily. Lynn was a beautiful soul and will be missed. Be at peace dear friend. - Posted by: Marge Winiarz (friend and colleague) on: May 23, 2023

  • I am so very saddened to hear of Lynn's passing. Lynn was such a kind and caring person. I taught with her when she and I started our teaching career at Harold Hatcher School. We also car pooled together....she in her great Mustang and I in my Camaro. As we drove together to and from school each day we became good friends who understood and supported one another. I will never forget some of those times when she gave me solid good advice. She was there for me also in giving me a baby shower at her home. Lynn loved her students and had a gentle way of working with them. She has and will always be in my heart. May you find comfort, Jonathan in knowing what a wonderful person your mom was, and may warm memories of her stay with you forever. • My sincere condolences to Jonathon & family. Very sad to hear of Lynn's passing. It was a pleasure to work with Lynn at Westview School. She was a quiet, dedicated teacher with a passion for teaching. I learned a lot from watching her interact with her students and took those life lessons with me when I left Westview. You are gone too soon Lynn.....but will not be forgotten. - Posted by: Carol Brisley (co-worker) on: May 20, 2023
