SHIRLEY ELENORE WEITZEL
With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley at Riverview Health Centre after a brief illness.
Shirley is survived by her son Greg; brother-in-law Bernie Kuntz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold; parents, Sven and Sadie Swenson; sister Martha and brothers, Ed, John and Jack.
Shirley was a kind and generous person, always ready to help at a moment’s notice. She spent her entire career in food services, working at Harman’s drug store for 40 years. She was an avid sports fan, having season tickets with the Bombers for many years; but also attending many Jets and Goldeyes games. She loved taking bus tours for gambling, Twins and Vikings games. She also enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens.
In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, there will be no formal service, but a private celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
Her family wish to thank CancerCare and Riverview for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

My deepest condolences from my wife and I. "Auntie" Shirley was always in our lives. My mother met Shirley at Harmon's and they became life long friends. Her and "Uncle" Harlod would either come to our place or we would go to theirs to play cards with my parents. She enjoyed going to Goldeyes games with my Dad and made the best rhubarb pie. She will be deeply missed and loved. - Posted by: Dave Hamilton (Family Friend) on: May 28, 2023

Shirley was an awesome and great person. I worked with her son Greg at Gelco express for many years. I always made time in my busy day to go and have lunch at Harmans. I really enjoyed the sausage asparagus and cheese sandwich with the tomato soup it was always a good choice. And of course the interactions with Shirley. She was always a very bright spot in my day!! She will be sorely missed I'm sure!! And Greg was a great friend and work buddy as well - Posted by: Keith James (friend of her son Greg ) on: May 27, 2023
