Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHEA SCHULTZ
On Friday, May 19, Dorothea Maria Schultz passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord, with family by her side.
She was predeceased by Walter, her husband of 62 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Laurie (Brian) Ikeda, David (Karen) Schultz, Brenda (Bob) McConomy and Mark (Kristine) Schultz; ten grandchildren and their partners; four great-grandsons and her sister Marlene Taylor.
Dorothea was born in Winnipeg where she spent most of her life. When the Lutheran World Federation offered Dad an opportunity, they moved and spent eight special years living in Geneva, Switzerland. Wherever Mom lived, her home was always a welcoming haven for all.
Dorothea had a strong faith and was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church. She served the church in many ways – Luther League, where she met Walter, Sunday School teacher, choir member, ladies groups and Church Council.
Dorothea and Walter travelled extensively over the years. They loved to experience new places and to visit friends, both old and new. Mom was an avid knitter, taking it with her wherever she went. Many of the items she made were given to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and donated to charity.
Dorothea was a wonderful Mom, Grandma and Granny. She enjoyed sharing the successes of her children and grandchildren. She was loved by everyone she met for her outgoing and caring nature. She will be greatly missed. Her life of love, faith and service are values we all strive to match.
A celebration of Dorothea’s life will be held on May 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, Winnipeg, with Pastor Courtenay Reedman Parker presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief, Luther Village Capital Campaign or Messiah Lutheran Church.
The service will be Livestreamed at facebook.com/messiahlutheranwinnipeg
The family wishes to express their thanks for the wonderful care provided by Home Care and the Staff at River Ridge I Retirement Residence.

My thoughts are with you as you gather to celebrate your mother's life. I have fond memories of both of your parents as long time members of Messiah and their friendship with our parents, Don and Jean. I also had the pleasure of singing in the choir with you mother for a few years. I am sorry but I will not be able to celebrate her life on the 29th as I am in Ottumwa Iowa helping my sister.
