PHILIP ALLEN (AL) FLETCHER

September 17, 1946 - May 20, 2023

To my loving wife Joanne of 45 years, you have been my best friend, my lover, my companion. You have always stood by me all these years and been supportive of all the moves and travel, whether it be Gillam or Montreal, and later in moving to the lake in retirement. I thank you for everything you did, especially holding my hand and walking this extremely difficult journey with me. I love you and want you to know that I have loved you with all my heart from the day we met.

I have been so fortunate for the family and friends that I was blessed to have had, I have decided to do this because I want those dear to me to know how I felt and how much you have meant to me.

To my daughter Michelle Scott and husband Merv, grandsons, Connor, Hunter, and granddaughter Sophie, I love you all and am so proud of you guys.

Daughter Carrie Hay, your sons, and husband Kirk, I am so happy for the love you and Kirk have for each other. My wish is for it to last your lifetime. To Darcy and Edee, your children, and grandchildren, I wish we could have been closer and without issues.

To my in-laws, Derek and June Roy, Mike and Nora Roy, Jill and Dave Studney. Joanne and I have many fond memories of the numerous days and weeks spent snowmobiling, boating, eating, and partying with yourselves and many friends at your cottages. Thanks for those good times and the memories.

To the many friends I worked with, and some have known most of my life, Dave, Lorne, and Walter to name a few, I appreciated your friendship and support.

To the many friends we have made across this country and over the years, including Bob and Glady, Ken and Shirley at my last stop here in Plympton village, thanks to you all for your friendship.

The time has come for me to leave and have a reunion with my father Philip, my mother Esther, sister Carol, my father-in-law Hector, mother-in-law Evelyn. I have had a good life, we had good times, we had great times, it was a blast.

I ask that everyone raise a glass in my memory, cheers!

Al quietly passed away in his sleep on May 20, 2023, with his loving wife Joanne at his side. Al asked to be cremated and placed in a columbarium at the St. Vital cemetery.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for care, compassion, and support of Allen.

He will be greatly missed, but always loved and remembered fondly.

A celebration of Al’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg.
