Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHUGH STEVENSON
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Hugh Stevenson, with his family at his side, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Health Sciences Centre.
He leaves to cherish his memory his partner Diane Murray and family; sons, Grant (Dana) and Jeff (Rochelle), and their mother Joyce; as well as grandchildren, Mackenzie (Tyler), Brenlee (Sonil), Lucas, and Taya. Hugh is now reunited with his second born son Kent.
Hugh was born in Morden, Manitoba on March 15, 1939, to James and Gladys Stevenson. He spent his childhood in Morden before moving to Winnipeg as a young adult. He began his career with the Winnipeg Fire Department in his early 20s and provided over three decades of service before retiring at age 55. Retirement brought many travel adventures and new friends. He spent his winters in Florida, Texas, and Arizona before returning home full time to Winnipeg in March 2020.
From his earliest age, cars were his passion which led to him buying and rebuilding countless cars throughout his life. He attended many car races and shows throughout the years and passed his love for cars onto his sons.
Hugh was always there to help family and friends with repairs as he was exceptionally skilled with tools and could fix or build anything that he put his mind to. He was soft spoken, gentle, and kind along with being a proud father, adoring grandfather, loving partner, and friend to many.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Hugh’s name may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada (Manitoba Chapter).
