MARY ANN MARGARET PULL

(nee GOOD)

It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our Mum and Nama, Mary Ann on May 31, 2023.
Born February 1, 1939, Mary Ann was raised on the farm in Balmoral along with her seven siblings and her parents John and Evelyn (Vincent) Good. Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Brenda (Roche), son-in-law Denis Woods, grandchildren Charla (Andy) Harmsen, Brady (Ashley) Woods, Rylee Woods (Joel Downey). Her great-grandchildren Brynn, Halle, Emmett, Owen, Kohl, Paige, Cameron, and Chelsea. Her siblings Don (Sylvia) Good, Kitty Stewart, Gloria (Jim) Ackland. Brother-in-law Ed (Marie) Pull. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Mum was predeceased by her husband Ron, her parents John and Evelyn, and her great-grandson BJ Woods. Her siblings Lionel (Eleanor), Sam (Beryl), Jack (Pat), Enid (Reg) Coburn, brother-in-law Glenn Stewart, as well as many other family and friends.
In their retirement, my parents were able to travel lots and enjoyed camping with Charla, Brady, and Rylee. Travel continued after the passing of Ron to various places including Mexico, Arizona, Alberta and BC.
Mum was an Honorary Life Member of the Stonewall Legion Branch #52 serving on the executive in different capacities including President. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years.
Mum had a passion for curling. She was a life member of the Stonewall Curling Club. She proudly cheered on Brenda, many nieces, nephews, Manitoban and Canadian teams, and attended numerous World Curling Championships both in Canada and overseas.
Over the last few years the beginnings of dementia set in and in May 2021, Mum became a resident of Rosewood Lodge which was an adjustment for us all, but she enjoyed the other residents and staff. She especially enjoyed the music and entertainment and did not hesitate to have a dance when she could find a partner. Mum was happy when her sister Kitty became a resident and “The Sisters” spent many hours together; it was a two for one deal when you went for a visit.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stonewall Legion Hall with a lunch to follow. We wish to express our gratitude to the nurses and staff at Rosewood Lodge and Stonewall Hospital for their love and care of our Mum and Nama.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Alzheimer Society or Rosewood Lodge.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Mary Ann could always be relied upon to be welcoming to all of the veterans at the Legion, especially my Grandpa (Alan Campbell Sr) and his fellow WW2 Vets from Teulon. They always appreciated a chance for a laugh and a visit with Mary Ann, as did we all. If I ever bumped into her in town or at the Legion, she always picked up where we left off and had a good visit (or debate) about something. Sending my sincere condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Alan Campbell (Friend ) on: Jun 06, 2023

  • My deepest condolences to Brenda, Denis and family. Mary Ann was my dear and trusted friend. We shared a lot of fun times - some of the best times of my life. We also shared tears. Mary Ann loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family came first but her friends were a close 2nd. Together Mary Ann and I were hospital visitors for the Legion - if patients were sleeping Mary Ann would always wake them up and say to me “they will have lots of time to sleep when they die” I guess she needed sleep. - Posted by: Sandi Koch (Friend) on: Jun 04, 2023
