Peacefully on Sunday May 28, 2023, with her loving husband Mervyn Fitz of 58 years by her side, Audrey Yvonne Fitz née Heathfield passed away at the age of 80 years old.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Feb 23, 1943, to parents Ruby and William Heathfield. She is survived by her sister Margaret Hudon, and two children Brent Fitz and Brenda Fitz.
Audrey grew up learning the piano, organ, steel guitar, and sang in her school and church choirs. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and went on to Success Commercial College, which later led to clerical positions at GBR and Budget rent a car. She later returned to school and achieved her insurance broker’s license and worked in that field until her retirement.
A private service was held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on June 1, 2023.

Dear Merv, I was just looking in the Free Press Obituaries for an Air Canada co-worker and came across Audrey’s obituary. Am a bit shocked but glad she is no longer suffering. It has been a long haul for her. I see it was a private burial. I offer my deepest sympathies to you Merv (you were always there for her) and Brent and Brenda. I am so glad I called on her 80th birthday and we got to chat and you sent a picture of Audrey and her birthday cake. I will always remember her fondly. Audrey and I came to know each other as we both attended Daniel Mac, and we talked on Sundays as I was coming/going to Bethesda Church (across the street from her childhood home). We recalled memories of DMCI days when we met at reunions and caught up with our lives in the intervening days. Audrey was full of light, laughter and positive energy, a gift to all who knew her.
