Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN SUKKAU
It is with heavy hearts, much love and gratitude for a life well lived, that we as a family announce the passing of John Edward Sukkau on June 7, 2023, at the age of 90 while at the Concordia Hospital, following a battle with cancer.
John was born in Arnaud, Manitoba on July 18, 1932, to Harry and Anna Sukkau where he grew up on the family farm. Upon completing High School in Winnipeg at MBCI, John went on to the University of Manitoba where he completed a 2-year diploma course in Agriculture. Dad was a farmer at heart, but allergies and asthma prevented him from fulfilling his dream of farming.
In 1956, John married Adina Penner. They were blessed with 2 sons and 1 daughter. During his career, he worked at Redekopp Lumber, DeFehr Furniture, and The Christian Press until his retirement in 1997. He had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and was an active member of Portage Avenue Church until his health started to fail.
He leaves behind his loving wife Adina, his children and grandchildren, Norman (Sherry), Michael (Austin) and great-grandson Smitty, Nathan (Lauren); Karen (Owen Genung), Nicholas (Dana), Matthew (Emily), Christopher (Bethany). John was also predeceased by his son Bryan Mark who passed away into God's hands shortly after birth in 1973.
Thank you to all the staff at Concordia Hospital who cared for Dad during the last eight weeks of his life. Your care and compassion for Dad and our family was deeply appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Chapel, 2146 Main St., Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in honor of John.
