DENNIS PETERS FRIESEN
Dennis Peters Friesen, 81, of Langley, BC, passed away unexpectedly on June 19th, 2022. He passed in hospital surrounded by loved ones after losing conscientious mere hours before.
Dennis was born in Giroux, MB to Ed and Mary Friesen. He started school in Ridgewood before the family moved to Mitchell when he was 13. Growing up in a farming community, Dennis was actively involved in the 4H community and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His skills were not limited to agriculture as he played sports such as ice hockey and curling. He started his career at Steinbach Apparel.
Dennis and his wife Erna met in Steinbach. They married April 2nd, 1966 and honeymooned in BC never to return to Manitoba other than annual visits and fishing trips. He tried to plan his arrival to Manitoba so when his brother Norman picked him up they could make a stop at the Marigold Restaurant on St. Mary's Rd. However, it was back in BC where he called home that he and his wife raised their two boys, Russell and Greg. There, he became a drywall finisher and worked hard for over 30 years. Later, after retiring from construction, he returned to his cutting roots by working for his friend Eddie Toews cutting fabric for hot tub covers.
Dennis and Erna enjoyed going on cruises and did many Alaska trips together.
Dennis is survived by his two sons, Russell (m. Oksana) and Greg (m. Nicole) as well as brother Gerry (m. Frieda) and Norman (m. Karen).
A small ceremony will be held at Saint Pauls Luthern Cemetery on June 19th at 11:00 am.
