Emma Johnson passed away peacefully on February 11, 2023, at age 90.
Born Emma Balogh on May 26, 1932, on the family farm in Kipling, SK. As a young woman she worked at the Hub Café and later at the Kipling Memorial Hospital until she married Bert Johnson, from Kipling on December 13, 1952. The family moved from Kipling to Winnipeg, MB in May 1956. Emma worked at Federated Co-op for 24 years and later at Josten’s.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Seven Oaks Hospital Gift Shop, C.N.I.B. and at her apartment residence. Emma enjoyed a variety of activities, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, bingo, golf, daily walks, and Casino trips with her friend Anne and the Cook girls. She loved to dance and enjoyed the music of Charley Pride and the Statler Brothers. She enjoyed regular visits from Lavina and Marilyn. Mom loved baking, cooking, hosting get-togethers, playing cards, games and treasured spending time with her family and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, Helen and Andrew Izsak, and brother Joe (Ferne). She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lois Isfeld (Alan), Shelly Gregoire, five grandchildren, Kurt Isfeld (Laara), Cory Isfeld (Julie), Teri Larkins (Andrew), Ryan Gregoire and Marc Gregoire, great-grandchildren, Jessie Isfeld and Connor Larkins, sister Hilda Torgerson, nephew Sheldon Torgerson and niece Wendy Augustine (nee Torgerson).
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. followed by a reception. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery at 3001 Notre Dame Ave.
At Emma’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to C.N.I.B. at 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
