Anne Gooding, nee Lukanowski, passed away quietly on June 21, 2023.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Gordon, and their children: Lisa Hastings (former son in law Pat), Kevin (Anita); Paul (Teresa); Michelle Rowson (Ken); Gordon (Michelle) nine grandchildren: Sasha Bargen (Graham); Lana Hastings (Adolfo); Colin (Jessica); Raea (Troy); Max (Christy); Joshua Rowson; Tess Rowson (Tyler); Tanner Gooding (Chloe); Silken Gooding (Maverick Rafter), five great grandchildren; Prim and Bo Bargen, Eleanor Dot Gooding, Casey Jude Gooding and Selah Rafter. She was predeceased by her first born infant son, Michael, her parents and her younger sister Linda Lukane.
Anne was born on Nov 1, 1931, in Transcona, delivered by Dr. Murdock McKay. She graduated from Central School in Transcona, where she lived her entire life. Her family built and owned the Oxford Grill (1945-1964) where she worked part time and met her husband, Gordon, while he was a volunteer driver for the Children’s Aid Society.
Anne loved to write and at the age of 16 had her own column called “Anne’s Corner” in the Transcona News. She loved to paint and was a prolific member of the Forum Art Institute. Her abstract paintings hang in the homes of family and friends. Mom would paint on any surface she could find, flat or otherwise. She was deeply involved with L’Arche Winnipeg and its residents and made trips across N. America and Europe with her husband and friends. She was a youth group leader at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Anne loved music, all living creatures, repurposed and recycled well ahead of her time and was an insatiable reader. She valued friendships and felt blessed to have such a large family. She exemplified generosity in every sense.
Mom had the heart of a teacher. She loved learning and to impart ideas, skills, crafts, art, and had unlimited patience and affirmation for her family, her students of all ages and walks of her long and adventurous life. Ann spent her final year under the loving care of Park Manor.
In lieu of flowers consider a donation to Park Manor Personal Care home or L’Arche Winnipeg. A Celebration of a Life well lived to follow.

Anne was a wonderful long time friend of Frank & I. We had many visits at their cottage, coffee time together, Parties at Anne & Gord's home, singing all night long. Anne played a very big part in helping me make the decision of becoming a Chaplin. Her encouragement, her support & believing in me, gave me the courage I needed to make that step & I will always be thankful to her for that. Mandy wonderful memories I have of Anne that will never be forgotten. I look forward to seeing you again Anne In our final resting place together.. Always loved & never ever forgotten.. - Posted by: Helen & Frank Torchia (Long time friends ) on: Jun 26, 2023

I have very special memories of Anne Gooding. Similar to Grace's story above, the main connection was through the Fort Garry Four, as my dad Hugh Fraser was one of them, and also the many happy times at Victoria Beach. From a young age and through the years, every interaction with her left me with a feeling of warmth and kindness. Her creativity and artistry was lovely. She has left a unique and lasting impression on me and I'm sure many, many others, and I will miss her very much. Sending thoughts of love and support to her wonderful family. - Posted by: - Bud Fraser and Maria Roth (Family friend) on: Jun 25, 2023

A sweeter, kinder, more compassionate, more generous being never lived. Annie was all of those and more. She was a free spirit who loved to laugh and to create. I remember a few years ago when we had a street party on our cul de sac with a garage band. When the music started, she raced into the house to retrieve her tambourine and played and danced along like a hippie! Another time, when i worked and had a young family, my doorbell rang at suppertime. When i opened the front door, there was a pizza lying there and when I looked to see who had left it, I saw her at the end of our street, looking towards our house, and racing away on her bicycle. One of a kind for sure. My sympathies to the family at this sad time. - Posted by: Helene Pastula (former neighbour) on: Jun 24, 2023

Anne was a constant part of my life since I was a small child. As part of the wives group of the Fort Garry Four barbershop quartet, who were together over forty years (my dad Ed sang bass,) I saw her often through the years and always remember her kindness and zest for life. Our deepest sympathy to Gord and family. Grace & Larry 💚💚 - Posted by: Grace Hoskin (née Laurie) and Larry (Family Friend) on: Jun 24, 2023
