Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • He had Acerbic Wit, I volunteered at Deer Lodge Hospital encountered him but I did not know of his condition (he made a joke of himself being there...) Anyways, "I wanted what he Had..." I got it indirectly. I enjoyed his company & I think of him always. Thank You. - Posted by: Geoff Metcalf ((Friend)) on: Jun 04, 2025

  • Miles was a high school friend who spent a lot of time with 3 or 4 of us, cruising around in our pal Ray's '64 Ford convertible. We would occasionally meet up later in life either in Brandon where I was living at the time or in Winnipeg at one of the Flin Flon Luncheons. He always had a story or two to share. I marvelled at his memory for names and events, things that happened years earlier seemed to be fresh in his mind! Rest well, Miles. - Posted by: John Scott (friend) on: Jun 28, 2023

  • My heart goes out to Gurmit and family. Wishing you comfort and consolation, strength and peace. Hoping that the joy in sharing memories soon eclipses the pain of grief. - Posted by: Laurel Martin (Past colleague of Gurmit) on: Jun 28, 2023

  • Miles and I were best friends when our families lived next door to one another in uptown Flin Flon. Best guess, I figure I was likely about ten at that time, Miles a year younger. We were very tight for those few years until I moved far, far away - about two blocks over. Gradually we drifted apart for some unrecalled reasons but we still played together off and on and later during our high school years we would hook up occasionally, even sharing a meal together from time to time. My fondest memory of Miles is of me shooting pucks at him in our back lane every winter. He was a little league goaltender and quite a good one at that. I didn't know how to even skate. The Whitney Forum was close by and I would sometimes watch him play and even join him in his team's dressing room after a big game. It was great. I even remember watching Bobby Clarke and Reggie Leach play on the same ice and as kids do, we got bored if the game wasn't close. We would bring our sticks and I would practice with him rinkside. We usually chatted if our paths crossed as adults and of course we talked about old times. I was always just a little disappointed he didn't make it to the NHL because then I could have boasted it was all due to my shooting drills. I'll miss seeing him from time to time and think of him fondly next Bomber game at the town's historic rink. I know the exact spot I fired rubber at him. My condolences to all. - Posted by: Keith Reed (childhood friend) on: Jun 28, 2023
