CANTOR GERRY DAIEN
Cantor Gerry Daien passed away at the age of 94 on Thursday, June 22, 2023. He was surrounded by the love of Peril, his wife of 72 years, and his children, Rachelle, Barb, Marim, David and their families.
Gerry began working in the family business of H. Daien and Sons Electrical Contractors. His true calling was his work as a spiritual leader and teacher. Gerry taught bar/bat mitzvahs, performed weddings, funerals, unveilings, and comforted the sick and dying. His greatest joy was being a synagogue cantor, most recently at the Chevra Mishnayes Synagogue.
He loved his family deeply and enjoyed being surrounded by his four children and their spouses, seven grandchildren and their partners, and four great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by them and the community he served.

I will always appreciate the time I spent with Gerry back in 1973-74, during that weekly year-long Bar Mitzvah class. He was a great teacher and I was able to lain my entire parsha. I also had the privilege of working with Gerry a decade later at JWC in the framework of my first teaching job. Condolences to the entire mishpacha.
