Date of Passing: May 23, 2023
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID JAMES (JIM) DE JERSEY
Jim passed away at home in Holland, Manitoba on May 23, 2023.
He was predeceased by his parents, Doris and Harold and is survived by his brother Don (Hearthy), nephews, Brad (Brenna), Colin and Paul (Holly) and his great-nephews, Rivers and Brooks.
Jim was born in Winnipeg where he went to school with his lifelong friends, “the GCCI Group of Seven”. Jim taught school in Winnipeg and Flin Flon, where he especially enjoyed spending time with the Mackie family and other cousins. During his teaching years, Jim seemed to get more satisfaction from his entrepreneurial efforts which allowed him to capitalize on his creative and mechanical skills. Jim had what would now be described as several gigs. He had commercial interests in small engine restoration and sales and silk screening. He was also an early Manitoba pioneer in the field of specialty indoor agricultural production.
Later in life Jim discovered that Arizona was great for his health and spent many winters in Tucson pursuing his interests in Latino swap meets, dirt biking and biker bars.
While Jim was quite happy to spend time alone working on his many interests, he was well respected, particularly by his friends who enjoyed his company and the positivity in his eccentric personality. Jim was very generous with those he recognized as needing some assistance to make their lives better, he will be missed and fondly remembered for those special qualities.
A private interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to a favoured charity could be considered.

Jim was a good friend that I hung out with in school and after we graduated. We both shared a love of riding motorcycles. Jim hosted great parties especially on Halloween. One year he converted half his home into a haunted fun house. He was always working on some new invention or restoring his home, hovercraft or anything with a motor. He visited us in Florida when we first moved down. We kept in touch over the years. Very sorry to hear of his passing. You will be missed, Gentleman Jim! My condolences to Don and his family. - Posted by: Allan Shaw (Friend (One on the G7)) on: Aug 03, 2023
