ANDREW RUSSELL MOFFAT
On July 24, 2023, at the Davidson Centre in Cartwright, MB, Andrew passed on to his Eternal Life with his sister, Christena by his side.
He was born on September 20, 1932, at the family farm south of Holmfield, MB, one of five children born to his parents, Russell and Christena (Tena) Moffat.
Andrew received his elementary education at the rural Rose Valley School and High School at Holmfield and Cartwright, MB.
He was seventeen years of age when he signed a contract to teach grades one to eight at the Eunola rural school eight miles north of Pierson, MB. After graduating from the Provincial Normal School, the following year he returned to Eunola for an additional four years. After teaching a year at Souris, MB, and four years at Hilton, MB, which included the high school, he joined the Provincial Civil Service where he was employed at the Deartment of Motor Vehicles for twenty-six years, the last sixteen which were with the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation.
Andrew was a member of the Presbyterian Church, following the faith of his parents and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Besides his parents, Andrew was predeceased by his sister Mary Loise Young, sister Georgena Moffat, brother Brian Moffat, nephew Brent Gibson, niece Marilyn Andries and brothers-in-law Calvin Gibson, Frank Young and Delbert Walton.
He is survived by his sister, Christena Gibson, sister-in-law Gwen Moffat, nephews Shayne Gibson (Melanie), Derryle Gibson (Chris), Russell Moffat (Bonnie), Rodney Moffat and nieces, Sherry Mullin (Boyd) and Marjorie Woodcock (Bob).
A private graveside service with interment in the family plot will take place at the Holmfield Cemetery.
