MARIA ALICE RODRIGUES

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Alice Rodrigues while surrounded by her loving family on August 1st, 2023, at HSC at the age of 83.



She was predeceased by her mother Adelaide and father Francisco, her son Carlos Branco Rodrigues, her sister Maria de Lurdes and her brother Victor.



Maria is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Antonio, her children, Paul and Tony (Maria), her grandchildren, Christopher (Keely), Alycia (Nas), and Alexis and her great-grandchildren, Kate, Henry, Maggie, and Sophia. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Maria Umbilina, and many nieces and nephews in Portugal and in Winnipeg.



Maria was born and raised in Resgais, Parceiros de Igreja, Portugal where she met the love of her life who would bike for miles just to be with her. She spent her life as a talented seamstress working for many well-known brands and would always be seen wearing her own latest creations. She always made sure her hair and nails were perfectly done, with her heels to match. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In the last few years of her life while treating her multiple myeloma she was always known as the shoe lady by the CancerCare Manitoba team, who we would like to give a special thanks to, including Dr. Rimmer and the staff at HSC.



A celebration of her life will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish 181 Austin St. N. on Wednesday, August 9th at 12:00 p.m., and a service will be held in Portugal at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for a donation in honour of Maria to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
