On August 1, 2023, it is with deep sadness and great regret that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Irene Liske.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Sheldon Blank; daughter Callie (son-in law Joshua Dian) and son Brandon. Irene is survived by her sisters-in-law, Sherri-Ricki Erlichman (Martin Erlichman) and Bonnie Blank. She is also survived by her brothers, Gordon Liske (May), Jerry Liske and her brother-in-law Gordie Demke. She was predeceased by her parents, Minnie and Edward Liske and her sisters, Eleanore Demke and Lillian Buss.
Irene was born on December 6, 1949 and was raised in Whitemouth, Manitoba. She met her husband at The Bay downtown in 1974 and they began a wonderful life together. They loved to travel and had many warm memories of their trips to Vancouver, Hawaii, Florida and Mexico. Irene worked at Eaton’s as a hair stylist in the 1980s and before that as a computer operator. When her children were born she stopped working outside of the home and devoted her life to raising her family. She was a phenomenal wife and mother. Her love for her family knew no bounds. Irene was a kind, gentle, caring, peaceful and loving person. Sadly, she suffered from progressive lupus and kidney failure. A special thanks to her long time caregiver, Dai Di Xie.
Funeral services were held on August 3, 2023 at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Our gratitude to the pallbearers, Dr. Arthur Blank, Lanny Silver, Ilan Silver, Dov Blank, Marvin Silver and Tommy Ouyang. We are especially grateful to Rabbi Benarroch for his comfort, care and guidance during this very difficult time.
We will forever cherish our memories of our wife and mother and we loved her with all of our hearts.

I am filled with sadness for the loss of a long time friend. I have not seen Irene for a number if years due to a misunderstanding. I thought of her often. I truly miss her. I met Irene while I was taking a keypunch class in the evenings. We became friends for many, many years.
