It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Maria Jose Moniz.
Maria was born in Porto Formoso, Sao Miguel, Portugal, and immigrated to Canada in 1975. She lived independently at Arlington Haus for over 30 years right up to 97 years of age. She loved her time there and made some wonderful friends.
Maria was a devout Catholic and was ready anytime God was ready to take her.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Jose, her loving daughter Susana, two grandchildren Lesa and Kelly Joe, great-grandson Keith, sons-in-law Manuel, Joao and Rene.
Maria was devoted to her family from the oldest to the youngest. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Hortencia, Maria Augusta, Jose Luis (Fatima), Lorena, and her son-in-law Avelino. Along with 20 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren, siblings and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation to be held prior from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street N. Interment to follow in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
