Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN GAIL PENTLAND
With heavy hearts we share that Evelyn passed away in Langley, BC, after having celebrated her 62nd wedding anniversary surrounded by family. A loving wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, advocate and friend to many, she remained the epitome of courage, composure and wit as her loved ones gathered near. We are forever grateful for the farewell words of wisdom and love she imparted. Evelyn's spirit will be carried on by her beloved husband Edward and cherished children and grandchildren: Jeff (Astrid) and Max and Freddie; Curtis (Yuki) and Cordelia, Kaede and Finn; and Kathleen (Peter) and Sadie and Anastasia.
Evelyn lived a full life of dignity and compassion. Born in 1941 to George and Elsie Smith, Evelyn grew up in Winnipeg with her brother George, where she graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BA in Psychology. She took care to create nurturing environments in each place we called home (Regina, Winnipeg, Niverville, Edmonton, Burnaby, Langley). In each community she fostered a sense of meaning and purpose through various careers (social worker, children's librarian, entrepreneur, business director) and countless volunteer endeavours. She took delight in both travelling the world and hosting family and friends in her home. Her pets, gardening, golfing, playing games, refinishing furniture, and celebrating brought her joy.
Those who crossed paths with Evelyn can attest to her energy, humility, positivity, humour, grace, style, and generosity. Her unique ability to truly "see", value and connect with all people (and animals) is inspiring.
Evelyn's wish was to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
Please send an email to evelyn.celebrationoflife@gmail.com to be contacted with details. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Evelyn's honour to: Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation (www.lmhfoundation.com/pentland), Langley Animal Protection Society (www.lapsbc.ca) or Canadian Lung Association (www.lung.ca).
You can also commemorate Evelyn by taking the time to acknowledge and brighten the day of another...because that's what she would have done.

I have wonderful memories over the years of travelling together, sometimes as families many times as couples, as well as countless stays in their lovely home where we enjoyed a welcoming hospitality, Ev’s culinary talents, cards and endless wine. She was a good friend and will be sadly missed. Judy - Posted by: Judy Stevens (Friend) on: Aug 22, 2023
